Hi everyone! I am Elena and I will be more than happy to offer you my insights into ancient Olympia, Katakolon and their surroundings. I am a certified tourist guide/Archaeologist and speak fluent English, Spanish and Greek. I was born in Athens, the capital of Greece, however, my roots are from a small village close to ancient Olympia. This was the place where I spent most of my summers when I was little, listening to the fascinating stories of my grandparents about Olympia and its vast history. It's no wonder I studied Archeology! After completing my studies in Greek Archaeology and the Public School of Tourist Guides, I moved to the area and have been living there ever since. I design and run my own tours for the last few years and I collaborate with renowned travel Gurus, such as Matt Barrett. I have a passion for history and enjoy traveling with others back in time to the myths and mysteries of the ancient world. As an archaeologist I will accompany you on a memorable journey to the myths and mysteries of Olympia. Ancient Olympia Highlights: •See where the Olympic torch is lit. •Run the Olympic track. •Stand on the grounds of one of the seven wonders of the ancient world, the statue of Zeus. •Children will participate in making olive wreaths, imitate the labours of Hercules and race in the original Olympic track - the privilege of having long term collaboration with the Greek Archaeological Service specialized in educational programmes for children. We thoroughly enjoyed our tour with Elena. The visit to Olympia was amazing and Elena brought to life the events that took place at this UNESCO site. What an amazing day with Elena and Kostos! Elena was so knowledgeable of the Olympic site and the history of all things Greece! Kostos was a great driver and so very friendly and accommodating. The winery was a special time tasting wine and meeting Amanda who shared her family history and passion for creating such wonderful wine! Definitely one of our favorite tours during our time in the Mediterranean!
We were running early and our driver Kostis was already at the port. He explained the towns we were going through and was delightful. We met Elena at the museum at the Olympic area. She was extremely knowledgeable and explained what we were viewing very well!... my impression before we began was that the site was mostly destroyed and not a lot to see...that was not the case at all. It was amazing. After Olympia we went to a local winery for a tour, tasting and apps... the wine was great and the family very gracious. We cannot thank Elena and Kostis enough, they treated us like we had been friends forever and made our memories in Olympia unforgettable... well worth the price and we are very thankful...HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

MEETING POINT: RIGHT at the exit of the port. Note: Due to additional safety measures taken by the port authorities, all companies pick-up guests from the exit of the port. Once you disembark, please walk past the gate of the pier and follow the RED paved lane. Once you reach the promenade of the town, keep walking along the promenade where you will see the the fishing boats (by the sea) and the first cafés. Walking distance: It is a maximum 15' walk having a low pace.
