Charis is amazing! Our ship didn't dock until noon and we had to be back on board by 7:30. Charis didn't let us miss a thing. He packed our day with personalized off-the-beaten-path locations that were incredible sites and not crowded. The only place that was crowded (and very hot) was Olympia but we didn't want to miss that. Charis was prepared with frozen water bottles and an English guidebook showing what each building looked like before it was destroyed. We were in town for a celebration day at a local mountaintop monastery and Charis took us there between the cruise port and Olympia. It was amazing. We started at the top in the bell tower and worked our way down. A rare treat that most tourist don't experience. After Olympia, we visited an olive press where we sampled amazing olive oils and vinegars. We loved it so much that we bought a couple to take home! The prices were very reasonable. We visited a local winery where we sampled wines and had generous portions of farm to table foods. We were served so much delicious food that we didn't need lunch after this stop. We then visited a beautiful and private beach where we got to dip our toes into the Mediterranean Sea on the way back to the ship. This trip was far more than we expected. I highly recommend Charis!

We had by far the best tour of anyone on the ship today. Everyone we talked to was so impressed by everything we saw and did. Theocharis made the most of our day because of his knowledge of the island and time management. We started at the Olympic Ruins and Museum and were ahead of all the tour groups with drop off right by the ticket booth. We got great pictures without a bunch of people in them. A must see on the island. Honey bee farm, olive press, monastery up in the cliffs and beach stop. No hurry at any stops and no crowds and wonderful local culture at each. Charis is the best!
Wow…..what a day we had. From learning all about honeycombs and their general uses to the church in the rocks….to the wine. By the way, Olympia was great too. Make sure you ask Theo all about honeycombs. Petros, our driver, kept us safe and on time. What a great time.
Your Olympia tour itinerary
- The meeting hour will be based on your ship's arrival. The meeting usually is scheduled to start 15 minutes after the ship's docking at the port of Katakolon. - The drive to Olympia lasts 30 minutes. - The visit to Olympia site and museum takes approximately 2 hours. There you will have free time to explore the ruins and museum (please note I will not be escorting you inside as I am not licensed guide) - We meet up at the exit of the site and the next stop will be Magna Grecia winery. It takes about 10 minutes to get there. - The visit to the winery contains wine tasting and treat with traditional vegetable snacks (1. 5 hours). - Next stop is Klio's honey farm. Nice rural farmhouse with treat of local panckakes served with home made honey (1hour). - Next stop is Virgin Mary monastery. Really astonishing place where the church is inside rocks. Place worth to visit (1 hour) - The beach is located near the port . It takes 15 minutes to get there from Pyrgos - Transfer back to cruise port
