Hi everyone! I am Elena and I will be more than happy to offer you my insights into ancient Olympia, Katakolon and their surroundings. I am a certified tourist guide/Archaeologist and speak fluent English, Spanish and Greek. I was born in Athens, the capital of Greece, however, my roots are from a small village close to ancient Olympia. This was the place where I spent most of my summers when I was little, listening to the fascinating stories of my grandparents about Olympia and its vast history. It's no wonder I studied Archeology! After completing my studies in Greek Archaeology and the Public School of Tourist Guides, I moved to the area and have been living there ever since. I design and run my own tours for the last few years and I collaborate with renowned travel Gurus, such as Matt Barrett. I have a passion for history and enjoy traveling with others back in time to the myths and mysteries of the ancient world. As an archaeologist I will accompany you on a memorable journey to the myths and mysteries of Olympia. Ancient Olympia, the valley of the Gods and the area that gave birth to the Olympics, lies in the heart of the countryside. So we, together, can create the ideal tour customized to your needs and preferences, either in the nearby area or beyond. Together we can explore the artifacts of the Archaeological Museum and the antiquities of the Archaeological Site of Olympia (a monument of the world heritage of UNESCO). Whether you are on a cruise and have limited time to visit the area or you wish an extended private program for you and your family, your options are numerous. Ancient Olympia Highlights: •See where the Olympic torch is lit. •Run the Olympic track. •Stand on the grounds of one of the seven wonders of the ancient world, the statue of Zeus. •Children will participate in making olive wreaths, imitate the labours of Hercules and race in the original Olympic track - the privilege of having long term collaboration with the Greek Archaeological Service specialized in educational programmes for children. Uncover the past and present with me and experience Greece like an insider! National Tourist Guide's certificate by the Greek Ministry of Tourism. Bachelor degree in Archaeology, Ioaninna University (Northern Greece). Travel planner for Greece. As a certified tourist guide, I have no restrictions in terms of guiding within the archeological sites & museums. However, I am not a driver. I hire a chauffeured-driven vehicle for the tour packages i offer from the port of Katakolon (Cost is included).

Ancient Olympia is the perfect destination for everyone, whether you enjoy ancient history or love the Olympics! However, visiting the Olympic site without a tour guide can be sometimes chaotic due to its size. Together, we will unfold the secrets of this UNESCO monument and share exciting stories of my time in Olympia as an archaeologist. What my travelers enjoy most about this tour is the opportunity to experience the site from the inside! Tour Highlights: •The training facilities •The Phidias' workshop where it stood the gold and ivory statue of Zeus •Hera's temple where the Olympic torch ceremony is hosted •The Original Olympic stadium!
Elena's tour of the ancient site was just fantastic start to finish. My friends and I enjoyed our 2 hours on the site, Elena intertwined history, mythology and Greek traditions beautifully. Elena was prompt with communication prior to the tour, arrived right on time and even gave us information and tips for visiting the various museums in Olympia also. Highly recommend booking this tour!
Elena was amazing! Enthusiastic, knowledgeable, well spoken, friendly, patient and kind. Without her perspective and knowledge this large site would not have come alive for us like it did. I would recommend her for any tour she offers. Thank you so much!
The tour of Olympia far exceeded our expectations. Elena was such an amazing guide. She was extremely knowledgeable and was just such a pleasure to be with. We learned so much and found it so worth while to experience Olympia with an experience guide. We enjoyed our time with her immensely. We highly recommend this tour with Elena.
Elena is a wonderful guide! Super knowledgeable and passionate about the history of the region. She offered insightful comments about Ancient Olympia and its history.
Elena was a wonderful guide, and we would not have appreciated our visit to ancient Olympia nearly as much without her insight. She was knowledgeable both about the archaeological history of the site, as well as how the games occurred in ancient times. She really helped bring the site to life! Well worth it, I would highly recommend booking with her.
We were very pleased with the ancient Olympia tour that we did with Elena. She was incredibly knowledgeable about the site and the excavations. She gave us great insight into why the games were started and what the importance were behind the games. Had we gone on our own, we would have missed out on so much. There are a few information signs around but they do not give near the information that a guide does. I believe it is important to have a guide here and I highly recommend Elena. Her English is very good!
