Hello everybody and welcome to my profile! My name is Anastasia, and my genuine love for the arts and ancient civilizations motivated me to study Archaeology & Art History. During my career as an Archaeologist, I participated in several excavations around Greece and worked in restoration projects led by Greece's Ministry of Culture. Satisfying my need to be up to date with the advancements of Technology, I completed my Master's Degree focusing on the implementation of new technologies as a tool to enhance visitors' experiences visiting an archaeological museum. Then, the need to share my passion and knowledge drove me towards teaching. On the other hand, in tour guiding my restless soul finally found the challenge and the fulfillment it was seeking. The joy of meeting new people, guiding them through Greece's fascinating history and culture, sharing stories, myths and secrets of this amazing land is unparalleled. I was born and raised in Athens and started working as a tour guide there in 2015. Soon after that, I started working in other parts of Greece, as well. Until one day I found myself in the Peloponnese where I discovered amazing landscapes that soothe my soul, and ancient cities that intrigue my mind. I moved to Katakolon in 2018 with my soon to be husband, also a tour guide, and we started exploring the area around Ancient Olympia. We felt that this was the place for us to put down roots and start a family. I'm currently giving private, customized tours in Ancient Olympia, which combines unspoiled nature with the long history of great achievements of the ancient Greeks. Focusing on your needs and interests, I'll be able to offer to you a unique experience, making the best of your visit. You need a talented, passionate and knowledgeable tour guide to unravel the amazing stories behind the ruins of Ancient Olympia, as well as a local to show you the best that the area has to offer, providing insights about the way in which we live. Licensed Tour Guide by the Ministry of Tourism of Greece. I am a licensed tourist guide. There are no restrictions as far as the tour destinations I can guide you at are concerned. I am not a driver, so I can accompany you in your vehicle or I can arrange for you a private vehicle and a driver.

Overview of your Olympia tour
Allow me to walk you through the fascinating stories about the Games, the athletes and the preparations & procedures that these followed! On this tour, you'll enjoy a lovely stroll around the ancient site, as I share details about the various sporting events practised here in ancient times, as well as the meaning of the Sacred Truce & the importance of the Games, which were held for almost 12 centuries! The excavations (conducted for over a century) revealed beautiful temples, altars, athletic facilities and of course, the Stadium, where the Olympic Games were held. Our visit will lead us to the Archaeological Museum, which houses all the original findings from these excavations. On a personal note, I have a Master's in Museum Studies and a BA in Archaeology so I'll enjoy discussing the lovely statue of Nike and other exquisite pieces of art which will astonish you, like the famous statue of Hermes, by Praxiteles in the 4th century b. c. (one of the most beautiful ones that survived from ancient times.

·We will meet at the ticket office of the archaeological site, where we'll get our tickets quickly, since having a guide by your side saves you from waiting in line! ·We will proceed to visit the archaeological site and unravel the history of the area which spans over thousands of years as we visit all the important buildings there. ·You'll then get to stand on the spot where the ceremony of the Lighting of the Flame takes place in modern times. ·Next, you'll have the chance to enjoy the stadium by walking or even racing down the ancient track! If you wish we can walk also around the site and enjoy breathtaking views of the stadium. I'll show you the best places to take stunning pictures! ·We will then continue to the Museum of Olympia and discuss the most important & interesting exhibits displayed there, such as the superb bronze collection of the museum & the statues that decorated the pediments of the temple of Zeus. ·After our tour I can accompany you to your hotel or advice you on where to go next.
