HERZLICH WILLKOMMEN IN DRESDEN! I am a fully licensed local guide, also allowed to guide in all museums, gardens, national parks and castles as well as some churches in Dresden and Saxony - Frauenkirche church in particular - and an official member of "Tourismusverband Dresden e. V. " and our German national "Bundesverband der Gästeführer in Deutschland e. V. ". As president of "IG Guides Dresden-Elbland" I share my expertise with six very passionate fellow-guides. I also guide in whole East Germany: Colditz, Bautzen, Gorlitz, Wittenberg, Weimar, Naumburg, and e. g. thematic Luther-Bach-Goethe tours. I graduated from university with diploma in History, Anglistics and Germanistics. However, I am well known as a humorous tourist guide from whose rich knowledge of local events in the present and past and lots of historical anecdotes you will be impressed and never bored! You will learn as much about "History" as about "Herstory" and what "Anglo-Saxon" and "Dollar" has to do with Saxony. Curious? Soon you will get the answer! I would be glad to guide you on compact city tours, day trips, 3-day excursions or even as a tour operator - accompanying your tour completely. Dresden, the splendid residential baroque capital of Saxony, is exactly on the axe Berlin-Prague, heart of Central Europe. You can book me as a guide commenting the way between these two cities. Nazi History, Communist Epoch, Peaceful Revolution - thrilling information on the way. Please read my DRESDEN BLOG (www.toursbylocals.com/blog, then choose "THE DRESDEN MIRACLE") to get the flavour of my great city! - University diploma in History, Anglistics, Germanistics - Special guide licenses in most museums, palaces, churches, gardens and national parks. - "Be a Better Guide" training - President of IG Guides Dresden-Elbeland - Member of Germany's national tourist guide association "Bundesverband der Gästeführer in Deutschland e.V." and "Tourismusverband Dresden e.V." I am not licensed to drive paying customers, but I can hire a licensed driver if requested by the customer. prices on demand.

Trip to Meissen with view to the magnificent gothic Cathedral and the Albrechtsburg-castle - emblem of Meissen, the former capital of Saxony. Walk through the picturesque Old Town to the world-renowned porcelain manufactory where we will experience how the "white gold" is being produced during a guided tour through the demonstration workshop. Visit the porcelain museum or have a cup of coffee in "genuine Meissener". Lovely traditional restaurants with panoramic view on medieval houses, vineyards and River Elbe may seduce you. . . After lunchtime: Fairy Tale Castles are not only in Bavaria! Trip to the romantic baroque hunting Palace, historically furnished - this is one of the most wonderful castles situated in a lake, with hand painted leather wall decoration, precious Meissen porcelain objects and fantastic hunting trophies.

This was our second custom tour from Silvia which combined a tour of the famous Meissen porcelain works and a half day general tour of Dresden. Silvia was really great. The tour was comprehensive and was nicely paced, not too slow or fast but just right. We got to see a lot that we wouldn't have found on our own. Thanks so much Silvia!
Sylvia is very enthusiastic and tried her best to find "bargains" on porcelain for us to buy during our factory tour. She also gave us great ideas for future excursions, including "Saxony Switzerland" which she thought we'd like. Although I learned a lot about the various steps in the making of porcelain, I would have also enjoyed touring the town of Meissen which we did not have time for. I think adding another hour or two to see the town at this same price point would earn this a five star rating.
We loved our tour of Meissen, particularly the tour of the famous porcelain factory and lunch overlooking the Elbe. Silvia is a terrific guide and host.
The six of us really enjoyed our time with Silvia. We valued the time in the porcelain factory and hunting palace but we really valued her knowledge of all of the sights and history of Dresden. Her sense of humor and willingness to accommodate our needs and wishes made our time together very enjoyable. We recommend her highly.
Silvia is a fantastic guide. She is very knowledgable and fun. She is wonderful advocate for Saxony. We highly recommend her.
