Back To The Roots Tour

Silvia was very thorough and professional. I appreciated all the work she put into the tour prior to my arrival. I was so amazed at the contacts she made on my behalf. Seeing documents of my ancestors in books that were over 100 years old was surreal and fascinating. I cannot recommend Silvia enough. I had an amazing time with her.

Excellent tour with Siliva of Dresden and Meissen to see where my husband's father and grandparents lived and worked during the early 1900s and up to the time of WWII. Silvia came fully prepared with historical documents, maps, and other things to assist in our visit. With Silvia's help, we were able to locate family graves in an old cemetery (very meaningful to us) and see the streets and buildings where family resided before they were deported. A highlight of our trip was a train trip to Meissen (35 minutes from Dresden) to see the building formerly owned by my husband's grandparents. We could not have done this without the knowledge and guidance shared by Silvia. She is an excellent resource about this period in history and of the beautiful city of Dresden and its cultural treasures. Highly recommend this tour!

Your guide in Dresden, Silvia Troester was magnificent. She is extremely knowledgeable about Dresden and is a wonderful guide. She also went out of her way to help me find information about my ancestors in Burg, another town. Silvia was my angel in finding my penpal and being there when we met. In October, 2018, the Fiedler sisters were on a mission a visit to find the home of our ancestors somewhere in Saxony, Germany. The "Back to Your Roots" tour offered by Sylvia was the perfect choice for us as we were planning to visit Dresden. Silvia was knowledgeable and fun. Throughout the trip, she filled in with local history and dealt easily with minor setbacks and new opportunities. She turned out to be our guide, interpreter and friend.

Silvia was a tremendous tour guide and helped me secure a meeting with the Mayor of Schmolln, the home of my ancestors since 1440. I presented the Mayor with a Certificate from the Mayor of Dearborn, MI. In fact, Basilius Bankwitz was the Mayor of Schmolln in the 1500's. Our 10:00 am meeting was much more than I ever thought possible. This tour was terrific. A local genealogist had 6 inches of materials about my family at our meeting. I walked in the streets of my ancestors!!! Keith Bankwitz
