I have been working as a tour guide here in Dresden for more than 20 years now. I really enjoy showing my guests the beautiful city of Dresden, its museums and surroundings. For me this means not only to tell you about history, but also about culture, traditions, and the local life here (yesterday and today). I grew up not far from Dresden and now for more than 30 years I have lived here in Dresden and experienced its many changes - especially those the reunification brought about. Let me introduce you to the diversity of Dresden. I give you my personally selected impressions of the past and the vibrant life of present-day Dresden. With me you will discover the variety of the different districts of Dresden. I have chosen some of the unique places of Dresden for you to see, so you discover villa, baroque and alternative districts. For this we will take a car/taxi. Walking in the old town with the magnificent historical buildings I will show you my fine selection of the "must see" of Dresden. You will understand why Dresden was known as one of the most splended courts of Europe in the barouque time and see how this splendor is back again. Finally we will enter the reconstructed Royal Palace which houses now some of our greatest art collections. With me you will experience the world of the splendid Saxon court of Augustus the Strong in The new Hall of the giants (armoury), the State Apartments and the Treasury - The New Green Vault.
Carola was perfect ! At the start we expressed our 3 objectives and with a big smile she said we can do all the right places for you with a pace that will be easy to do today and we will see some complementary spots that will give you a complete story on the Franhenkierke. She was top notch! Plus we had a wonderful strudel and fun. You will love Dresden and Carola!!!!!!
Carola’s Dresden tour was wonderful. She selected the perfect highlights to show us and handled all the arrangements expertly. She spoke fluent English and explained the sights, the context, the history, and the significance of each very well. She was very pleasant, nice, and humorous. Very comfortable to be with. She was flexible about adapting the tour to suit our interests and schedule. Carola and the tour were terrific. Dresden is a beautiful, interesting, and historically significant city with all kinds of special places to visit and stories to learn. Carola showed us those places and told us those stories magnificently.
Carola was a fabulous guide, knowledgeable, and articulate regarding historical Dresden, WWII the bombing and its aftermath, and the GDR period leading to reconciliation. I would recommend her without hesitation.
We utilized a combination van/walking tour with Carola that was wonderful. Our river cruise ship had engine problems, so she talked directly with our on-board Program Director to work out our meeting place. Carola made this beautiful city come alive with history and stories that made for a perfect day. We especially marveled at her knowledge of the items in the Green Vault. Our group enjoyed a lunch with her to add even more to our day in Dresden.
We very much enjoyed our day in Dresden. We did a lot in only a few hours. Carola was very professional. Knew her city and answered our many question. I would highly recommend her for a perfect day.
It is a combination of a city tour by car for the overview, a leisurely walking tour in the historical city centre and a guided tour in the Royal Palace to see some of our impressive art collections. The tour by car will drive through: villa district Blasewitz, the baroque New Town and the alternative Outer New Town pass by: the Great Garden, the transparent Manufactory by VW, The Blue Wonder Bridge and the Golden Horseman. short photo stop at: the Elbe Palaces During the walking tour in the historical Old town we pass: the Zwinger, Theatre Square with the Opera House, Procession of Princes, Church of Our Lady and Cathedral. Since the Royal Palace ist closed Tuesdays we cannot visit the collections in there on Tuesdays. On Tuesdays we could visit instead of this the Old Masters Gallery.

To see the different districts of Dresden we can use public transport, your car or rent a taxi or car - as you like it. Please get in contact with me to fix the transportation. In the old town we will walk (no big distance, nice leisurely walk).
