mosques in the city of the dead and Citadel
Overview of your Cairo tour
Today it will be a bit different tour as we will drive through the city of the dead where we have large cemetery and we will visit Farag ibn Barquqe mosque and Qalawun mosque. Then visit the Citadel of Saladin, who was a famous warrior. You will immediately notice that it is huge from inside! Inside the citadel, we will visit the famous Alabaster Mosque of Muhammad Ali. If you have ever been in Ayasophia before, you will probably contemplate how similar they are from inside. On the other hand, Sultan Hassan's mosque is considered to be the fourth pyramid of Egypt as it is also huge from inside. I feel a strong connection to this place, and my mother was born very close to this area. I feel very familiar to this place and feel very at peace here. Besides these mosques, you will visit the tombs of kings and queens from the family of Mohamed Ali, such as king Farouk, king Foud, Khedevi Ismail and Shah of Iran inside Rifaai mosque
Your Cairo tour itinerary
-The day will start with me picking you up from the lobby at the hotel. -Citadel of Saladin including mosque of Mohamed Ali. We'll then head to the Citadel of Saladin On arrival, we'll enter the Alabaster Mosque of Muhammed Ali -Sultan Hassan and Rifaai mosques After exploring this, we'll drive to Sultan Hassan and Rifaai mosques where we have tombs of king Farouk (the last king of Egypt),King Fouad, Khedive Ismail and the last Shah of Iran. -Drive through the city of the dead and visit Farag ibn Barquq and Qaitbay mosques -If the tour was to take place on a Friday we will stop during Friday prayer as mosques will be closed. So, you can have lunch in one of the local restaurants. Please make sure you wear proper clothes for visiting mosques. This itinerary could be customized according to your needs.
