On this tour, we will visit the Citadel of Saladin, who was a famous warrior. You will immediately notice that it is huge from inside! Inside the citadel, we will visit the famous Alabaster Mosque of Muhammad Ali. If you have ever been in Ayasophia before, you will probably contemplate how similar they are from inside. On the other hand, Sultan Hassan's mosque is considered to be the fourth pyramid of Egypt as it is also huge from inside. I feel a strong connection to this place, and my mother was born very close to this area. I feel very familiar to this place and feel very at peace here. Besides these mosques, you will visit the tombs of kings and queens from the family of Mohamed Ali, such as king Farouk, king Foud, Khedevi Ismail and Shah of Iran. Finally, we'll end on a high note visiting one of the oldest mosques in Egypt: Ibn Tulun mosque, which happens to have free entrance! Next to this mosque, we'll also visit its special museum and house, called Gayer Anderson museum, for a very low cost.
-The day will start with me picking you up from the lobby at the hotel. -We'll then head to the Citadel of Saladin. -On arrival, we'll enter the Alabaster Mosque of Muhammed Ali which happens to be inside of the Citadel. -After exploring this, we'll drive to Sultan Hassan and Rifaai mosques. -Finally, we will visit the mosque of Ibn Tulun and the museum of Gayer Anderson which is right next to it. -If the tour was to take place on a Friday, if you're muslim yourself, you'll have the opportunity to participate in the Friday prayer. Otherwise, you could take the opportunity to shop or have a break to eat. -If so desired, you can have lunch in one of the local restaurants, even during the Friday prayer time if you'd prefer. Please make sure you wear proper clothes for visiting holy places such as mosques. This itinerary could be customized.
