Mina is a qualified Egyptologist (masters degree, working on an PhD) and registered guide who explained the history of civilisation and the Giza Plateau to us in a logical and interesting manner. We got so much more out of his tour than the usual fare…this is the Sphinx and here’s the Great Pyramid, take selfies and go shopping sort of tours. I can’t say enough about our morning with Mina. This was a tour designed to teach us something about the history of civilisation and about the development, beliefs, and achievements of the Egyptian culture over millennia. He answered all our questions, outlined the established facts, based on scientific evidence, and identified topics that are still the subject of archaeological investigation and debate. His knowledge, extensive archaeological fieldwork experience, and passion for Egyptology really came across, making for a fascinating morning. In addition to all of that, Mina is a very genuine guy that we enjoyed getting to know a little about. My husband and I would both strongly recommend that everyone who really wants to learn something about Egypt should contact Mina and to have a custom tour with him.

Overview of your Cairo tour
This Tour is really different because we will see Beauty and History. This tour will be included the following sits: - st. Simon monasteries. - the holy family church at Coptic Cairo. -st. Mary church at El Maadi. At the beginning on our way to the Monastery of St. Simon by our car we will see the daily life of the people who lived there among rubbish. We will visit St. Simon Monastery in El Mokattam Mountain in Cairo. In this Monastery, we will see seven churches in the heart of El Mokattam Mountain. After that we will visit St. Mary Church in El Maddi. From this church on the Nile we can see and visit old Church of the fourth century. Third place we will visit is the Crypt of The Holy Family, which is where the Holy Family drank from in their flight to Egypt. I have a long experience with this holy places on the other hand I'm Coptic so I will tell you more interesting story and information so I'm sure that you will enjoy with me.

The tour was to St. Simon monastery at El Mokatam and then to St.Mary church in El Maadi. These places are off the beaten path, so we found the experience very interesting. Even driving through the area of El Mokatam and seeing the daily lives of Coptic people living there was informative. Before going to El Mokatam, we visited Coptic Cairo, since I mentioned that we wanted to see the area. It was beneficial to see the area with Mina as our guide rather than on our own. We enjoyed the tour very much.

Your Cairo tour itinerary
We will pick up you from the Hotel to start our different tour by seeing first: - St Simon Monastery. Let's say reaching the monastery is quite a difficult approach. Amazingly, the people there will point you in the right direction knowing your destination without even been asked. The Monastery of St Simon is located on the opposite side of the road leading to the Citadel so we can see the citadel while we are driving. This st. Simon monastery contains seven Churches and Chapels hidden in a series of caves in the Mokattam hills. - After that we will take our lunch and then drive to St Mary Church in El Maadi Area on the Nile, we will visit the old church of 4th century. - Finally we will drive to visit the Crypt of the Holy Family, which is where they drank from during their flight to Egypt in Abu Sergius Church "4th centuary" in old Cairo. Please remember this itinerary is flexible. I will be happy to customise the tour for you!
