Viking Ships, Kings & Queens - 6 Hours
Overview of your Copenhagen tour
Come on a tour of the fascinating Viking Ship Museum & Roskilde Cathedral. Half an hour's drive west of Copenhagen, we will arrive at Roskilde Cathedral, the final resting place for most Danish kings & queens, who are buried in sarcophaguses and beneath the cathedral floors. Close by is the location of the Viking Ship Museum. Marvel at how well preserved the original one thousand year old viking ships are, and explore the violent but fascinating history of our ancestors. You will also have the chance to sail with a (replicated) viking ship. While this tour can be customized, please confer with me about opening hours and sailing times on the specific day in question you'll be visiting. This is a 6 hour Viking and Roskilde-only version of my 10 hour Zealand tour (which also includes castles and art). Please see my other tours for additional options.
Your Copenhagen tour itinerary
After meeting you at your chosen pick-up point in central Copenhagen, we will spend a couple of minutes getting to know each other, and to align expectations and decide on any last minute special requirements, you may have. We then head out west on a half hours drive towards the town of Roskilde, once upon a time capital of Denmark. Our first stop will be at Roskilde Cathedral, the final resting place for most Danish kings & queens, who are buried in sarcophaguses and beneath the cathedral floors. Do allow yourself about an hour to fully learn about the history. (In case you will go sailing we will switch the two stops around). It is only a five minute drive from there to the Viking Ship Museum. To fully take in this fascinating and world famous history of our forefathers, please allow yourself at least a couple of hours at the museum. I highly recommend the film running continously. If you wish to sail onboard the viking ship, it will be the first stop. PREBOOKED ONLY. We end back in Copenhagen.
