Visit the old and new parts of Copenhagen and sense the atmosphere of this laid back city. Discover why we are known as the world's happiest people. I love sharing knowledge about my home country and about Copenhagen, the city where I was born and where I live. Telling the history about old Denmark and showing the sights, the landscape and my favorite spots is what attracts me about being a tourist guide. I qualified as a tourist guide from the Tourist Guide Diploma Program at Roskilde University in 1996 and I have been teaching there too. In 2006, I obtained a Master degree in History from the University of Copenhagen. For a couple of years, I have lived and worked in England. I teach coming tourist guides at Nordic Guide Academy and I combine my work there with working as a freelance tourist guide in Copenhagen and with Copenhagen as a starting point. Having been a tourist guide for 25 years, I have extensive experience and I have guided for just one person as well as for larger groups and for people having many different nationalities as English is my guide language. It is always my aim to give a positive and memorable experience. I emphasize to show and to tell about both the old and the new Denmark and living conditions before and now. Most of my tours are walking tours and/or using public transport, as I wish to participate in a sustainable future for our planet. However, I also do tours by in and out of Copenhagen. Tours can be adapted to your specific interests, needs and time. I hope you will come to see why I love Wonderful Copenhagen! 1996 - Authorized Tourist Guide from Roskilde Univercity 2006 - MA History from Copenhagen University 2000 - Teacher at the Tourist Guide Diploma Program at Roskilde University 2013 - Founder and director of Danish Heritage Tours 2017 - 2020 Project Leader at Innovation and Development of Urban EcoTourism at Roskilde University 2024 - Teacher at Nordic Guide Academy I will not drive myself but hire a car or van with driver on the tours that requires driving.

Are you also fascinated by the Vikings, as I am? Learn more about the Scandinavian Vikings that conquered large parts of Europe and managed to travel all the way to America 500 years before Christopher Columbus. Our 5-hour tour by train to Roskilde will include a visit to the Viking Ship Museum where you will be able to watch an introductory film in English. You will see the remains of the five 1000-year-old Viking ships found in Roskilde Fjord in 1969 as well as replicas made in recent years. We continue to the impressive Roskilde Cathedral built some 800 years ago when Denmark was a Catholic church. Now, the beautiful church is Lutheran and used by the local parish. This World Heritage Site is where 38 Danish kings and queens have been buried throughout 500 years. The interior of the church is worth traveling for and you will no doubt especially enjoy the spectacular guilt alter piece.
We take the train from Copenhagen Central Station to Roskilde Station and walk to the Viking Ship Museum. There you can see the remains of the 5 ships found in 1969. On the museum island, it is also possible to see replicas of the ships and how they were made. The Vikings were warriors but also farmers and traders. They had a great impact on not just Scandinavia but also many other parts of Europe. The Vikings introduced Christianity in Denmark and founded our Monarchy. I cannot help but admire them. We continue by foot to Roskilde Cathedral. According to Unesco, the impressive church is worth a visit when in Denmark and I totally agree. It is adorned with several side chapels built in different eras and architectural styles. Here you will see many varieties of grave monuments for Danish royalty. So much history and an impressive interior in one spot. During the trip, we walk about 60 minutes in total.
Tell your guide which places matter to you, skip what doesn't, and tailor the experience for your group's needs. Not finding what you want? Message your guide to build something unique.
