I am a 48 year old journalist and author who live near Copenhagen with my wife Maya and my seven year old daughter Esther. I am talkative, have a keen eye for the great story and have a lot of humour - even when the subjects are serious. As a guide I have great knowledge of the chosen subjects and a lot of experience in making you feel comfortable, smart and entertained. I have written a couple of books - one about cemeteries and one about second world war - and have given hundreds of lectures and tours. I offer tours on historical subjects with an eye for the telling details without missing the great picture. My subjects right now is: - Death and drama in Copenhagen, a collection of stories about dramatic events througout history and how they shaped the city and the nation. - The Nazi occupation, where I tell about the German invasion and the five years that followed - from the resque of the Danish jews, the resistance movement and the politicians who worked to keep Denmark save and to the Danish nazi, the German terror and the victims of the oppression. - Assistens Cemetery, a cemetery that is also a park and resting place for Hans Christian Andersen, Niels Bohr, Søren Kierkegaard and a lot of other famous and lesser known Danes. - Bispebjerg Cemetery - the German occupation and second world war as told through the graves on the cemetery. - Dragør - a small sailing village close to Copenhagen, known for it's beautiful yellow houses, which are on the Danish UNESCO tentative list. - Store Magleby and the Dutch. A walking tour of my new hometown 10 kilometres from Copenhagen. The history of Store Magleby is unique - it was founded by Dutch settlers 500 years ago, and their influence is still visible in the area. All my tours can of cause be customized, and if you are interested in another historical subject, just ask! I look forward to showing you my great city! I am a trained journalist who mainly works with history and have been guiding for about seven years. I am very experienced in giving lectures all over Denmark. I am not a driver. I can accompany you in your vehicle or I can arrange for a separate car and driver at your expense. However, Copenhagen, Dragør and Store Magleby are best experienced by foot.

Bispebjerg Cemetery near Nørrebro in the hip working class district of Bispebjerg/Nordvest is one of the hidden gems of Copenhagen. This beautiful, parklike cemetery is beloved by locals, but almost undiscovered by tourists. I am a cemetery enthusiast who loves the atmosphere, the history, and the culture of the cemeteries. I lived near Bispebjerg Cemetery for several years - and I would love to share my enthusiasm for and knowledge about this very special hidden gem. On this tour, we will focus on the story of the Danish part of World War II through the graves on the cemetery - but if you wish so, I will of course love to tell even more about the cemetery.
We'll meet up at the cemetery gates at Frederiksborgvej - or we'll meet some other place and go to the cemetery together. We might even include a small tour of the neigborhood if you wish so. The theme of the tour will be the german occupation of Denmark. Bispebjerg has a lot of official graves of for example police officers killed during the war, allied soldiers, russian soldiers, resistance members and german refugees. Besides those, we will hear the stories of Danes in German and allied service, the Danish sailors during the war, ordinary people who became victims, the German soldiers, Danes who ended on the wrong side of history and other stories that hides behind the gravestones. Of course, I will also love to tell you other stories from the history of the cemetery - or try to plan a customized tour based on your interests if wanted. We could also combine the visit with a lunch in a restaurant/cafe in the area - the area has a lot of nice, hip and cozy places.

We will be walking. If we meet up at another place, we might use public transportation or taxis. The cemetery is quite large, so remember your walking shoes:)
