Welcome to ToursbyLocals.com! Hello everyone! My name is María, and I’m thrilled to be part of this amazing team since 2019. I can’t wait to share my passion and enthusiasm for guiding in the beautiful Lake District region. A little about me: Adventure has always been my companion! With an endless passion for hiking, biking, and horse riding in the stunning Patagonia, I’ve accumulated over 20 years of experience in the field, starting back in 1998. In 2013, I founded Patagonia Trails based in Puerto Varas, Chile. There’s nothing I love more than being around people, showing them the hidden gems of my homeland, and connecting travelers with locals.My friends and colleagues affectionately call me "La María," and you’ll often find me either hiking or riding horses, guiding travelers through the breathtaking landscapes of Frutillar, Osorno Volcano, Lake Llanquihue, Lake Emerald, and the hidden trails of this privileged area of lakes and mountains.I invite you to discover this Volcanic Land through my eyes. Together, we’ll explore, share stories, laugh, and most importantly, make new friends while enjoying life! To ensure my guests have the best experience possible, I prefer to hire a driver and car, allowing me to focus entirely on you. A bit more about me: Certifications: Wilderness First Responder since 2003, always up to date. Registered guide at SERNATUR (National Tourism Service of Chile). Degree in Environmental Analysis focused on environmental journalism since 1997. Interests: Birdwatching enthusiast with a certificate from the Ornithological Association of the Plata (1999). Completed courses on Animal Behavior and studied Italian at Dante Alighieri, San Miguel de Tucumán (2016). Volunteer Experience: Volunteered at the GUIRA OGA Bird Sanctuary in Misiones and at Loitokitok School in Kenya. Guiding Experience: I’ve guided in parks such as Torres del Paine and Vicente Pérez Rosales, among many other destinations. Memorable Adventures: I’ve summited Mount Kilimanjaro and Toubkal, enjoyed trekking the High Inca Trail in Peru, explored the Atlas Mountains in Morocco, and my favorite, the W Trek in Torres del Paine. I’ve also taken part in two-week horse riding expeditions between Chile and Argentina. I’m here to make your experience unforgettable. I can’t wait to share this wonderful region with you!
