On this tour you will learn the basics of the history of the Austrian capital. For me, this area is my public living room, this is where I went to school and studied, this is where I first went out as a teenager and where I took part in many events. Now this part of Vienna is my daily workplace, in fact I'm already part of the inventory, I guess. Let me show you the most important sights of the old town such as Hofburg Palace, the former residence of the former rulers, the Habsburg family. As one of the largest castle complexes in Europe it covers an area of 75 acres. You will see the seat of today's president and chancellor, but also the wonderful facades of the old town houses, churches and monuments, elegant stores and a lot of terrace cafés. Last but not least you will discover the city's landmark, the stunning St. Stephen's Cathedral.
- Starting point of this tour is at the tourist information on Albertina square behind State Opera. - From there we start the exploration at the Hofburg Palace, which incudes eighteen different buildings from eight different centuries, amongst them a monastery, a church, a library and horse stables, many museums and impressive architecture. Austrian politics are still decided in the Hofburg today. - After this we will stroll along the Graben and other areas of the lively pedestrian roads towards the cathedral.
