Argentina is known worldwide as the land of Malbec, and the terroir of Valles Calchaquíes is one of the highest in the world. They represent less than 4 % of the national wine production and the iconic wine to this region is the Argentine grape: Torrontés (a young white crispy wine) that has become very trendy in recent years. The access road to Cafayate is through a beautiful ravine whose geological importance is protected as the Reserva Natural Provincial Quebrada de las Conchas: a scenic drive of 90 km through stunning colorful mountains, an ideal natural scenario for professional and amateur photographers. Cafayate is the biggest town of the once most productive valley of the province of Salta: through colonial times this valley provided corn, kiwicha, quinoa, potatoes, spices, wine and meat to the northern region of Argentina. This can be sensed in the Spanish domaining architecture style, gaucho lifestyle and wine producing tradition that makes them one of the most interesting areas of Argentina.
Salta (early departure from your hotel) Lerma Valley (we will drive through this gaucho lifestyle towns) Reserva Natural Provincial Quebrada de las Conchas (this is a 90 km road with outstanding colorful mountains and several places to stop for photographs, walk or sightsee) Cafayate (here we will stop to visit craft markets, bodegas, the town and its church. We can accommodate the activities according to the visitor's interests) Return to the city of Salta on the same road. Estimated time of tour: 10 Hours
