I'm Jezabel, but my friends call me Jes. I was born and raised in Salta. I spent my childhood reading everything about History, Geography, Literature and so on, and I had the chance to live a couple of months in England, that helped me to improve my english speaking. And that's why my work as a tour guide started as son as I was 21 years old in 2005. While I was doing my degree as a Professor in History at University, I also worked in the High Altitude Archeological Museum (MAAM) which is nowadays the most visited museum in the country. That also expanded my knowledge of the richness of the culture and history that we have at the North West of Argentina. Currently, I´m a PhD Canditate in Social and Cultural Studies at the UNSA, and on my free time I still work doing some historical and anthropological research. I turn my trips into a way of living, I enjoy being a guide, but also being a tourist. I spent a couple of years traveling around Asia, Italy and South America. This helped me to discover that in difference there is always something in common. This is a dialectical relationship that is created in the journey of traveling. Talking, learning, sharing is part of the many things that happens when we are open to know something new. Being an interpreter, not just a guide, has given me the chance to interact with individuals from all over the world, and I consider myself fortunate to learn from them, and share my experiences with them too. I have an easygoing personality, that I believe enables me to connect with travelers on a slightly deeper level and make their adventures in the Argentinean NW unforgettable. I would love to take you to the mountains, enjoy the good wines of the region and our fabulous food that are a great part of the NW culture. All my tours can be customized so we can find the best for you! Scenery landscape, desert, cultural expression & photography. . . This trip is all about the experience between the landscape and knowing about the local tradition that makes so unique this part of northwest Argentina. We are going to enjoy watching colorful mountains driving across the Quebrada the Humahuaca, where we will visit the towns of Purmamarca, Tilcara and Humahuaca, the three jewels of the gorge. In the first, we can find the cheerful colors of the mountains, in the second, we can learn about the pre-Columbian past and in the last one, we can understand the mix the colonial times, the independence time and what survives now a day. While we are travelling we are going to interact with the view, people and the nature, specially the animals that move free in the Puna, you will feel like being in a Safari. After crossing the Plateau, we will return to Salta driving along the Quebrada del Toro, probably one of the most breath taking gorges in the North.
From Salta we will move to the Quebrada of Humahuaca, that was declared in 2003 as World Heritage by Unesco. Over there we will start approaching the local culture and knowledge by doing some activity with a community. The second day, we will move to the north part of the Quebrada, where we we are going to do a light hike. After, we can visit a family house from the zone or continue watching the old vestige of the first humans that inhabited this zone. After, we will see the Hornocal mountains. The third day we will go to the Salinas Grandes, a white salt flat in the Puna. For getting there, we will cross 4200 meters' altitude. We will sleep in one Andean community and is going to be a great time to see they traditional way of life. The last day, we will return to Salta province, by the Quebrada del Toro, which is the road that follows the train line known as "Train to the Clouds". * Itinerary can be customized. * Messaged me for more details about the itinerary.
