Explore Trevelin your way

At ToursByLocals, we believe that how you explore is just as important as where you go. That’s why every Trevelin tour is private, flexible, and built around you: Move at your own pace, skip the crowds, make connections and follow your curiosity. Find local guides offering private tours in Trevelin for every interest, including:

Nature and Wildlife tours: Explore Los Alerces National Park with a boat ride on Lago Menéndez to the Alerzal Milenario, followed by a forest walk where you can look for Magellanic woodpeckers and fox tracks with your guide. Prefer water time? Try a quiet paddle on Lago Futalaufquen at sunrise and watch condors ride the morning thermals above the ridgelines.

Day trip tours: Combine the Nant y Fall waterfalls with Welsh tea at a classic casa de té in town, tasting scones and tarta galesa after the short walks to each cascade. Add stops at the Molino Nant Fach Museum to see the working flour mill and, in October, the tulip fields just outside Trevelin for colourful photos.

Off the beaten path tours: Spend an afternoon at a small sheep farm for a shearing demo, share mate with the hosts, and learn how they make their cheeses. Or follow gravel roads to Piedra Parada for an easy hike through La Buitrera canyon, and arrange a visit to a Mapuche weaving workshop in Lago Rosario through your guide’s local contacts.

The town centre is easy to cover on foot, but there’s little public transit to parks and rural sites; you can book chauffeured tours or ask your guide for private transportation to reach trailheads, farms and waterfalls comfortably.

This isn’t a one-size-fits-all itinerary, you can tailor your private tour to match your interests, pace and personality with a local who knows Trevelin inside and out.

Parque Nacional Los Alerces: Trace clear lakes, cross simple footbridges over bright rivers, and pick short trails to see ancient alerce trees. If you like walking and time on the water, this park gives you both without tough routes.

Esquel and La Trochita: Visit Esquel for shops and cafés, then ride the Old Patagonian Express steam train when it runs to see wide steppe views from vintage cars. Train fans and history buffs get a classic rail day that still leaves time to explore town.
