Day trip ideas from Mendoza

From Mendoza, plan easy day trips to nearby valleys, mountain passes, and small towns that line up wine, scenery, and local flavours without long drives, and they fit smoothly with private tours so you can set the pace.

- Luján de Cuyo wine country: Taste Malbec where it took root, walk vineyard rows, compare old vine plots with newer plantings, and sit down to a simple vineyard lunch; your tour can lean toward small producers, historic bodegas, or a mix if you want variety.

- Uco Valley: Head south for high altitude vineyards and big Andes views, visit a couple of modern wineries pouring cool climate reds and crisp whites, and add a cellar visit or barrel tasting if you like seeing how things are made; your tour can time the stops so you avoid long waits and keep the day relaxed.

- High Mountain Route to Aconcagua and Puente del Inca: Follow Route 7 along the Mendoza River, pause in Uspallata for coffee, check out the coloured rock folds, then continue to Aconcagua viewpoints with short walks that fit any pace; your tour can include photo stops at Puente del Inca and a simple lunch in a roadside town.

- Potrerillos Lake and mountain sports: Get out on the water by kayak or stand up paddle in calm coves, cross the dam for wide views, and add a short hike along the river canyon or try rafting when levels are right; this day keeps you close to Mendoza with fresh air and light activity that fits families or friends.

- Maipú wine and olive route: Cruise quiet roads between olive oil mills and family wineries, taste fresh oils alongside Malbec and blends, and see how traditional presses sit next to newer gear; your tour can swap in a bike segment or stay on four wheels if you prefer comfort.

A private tour with a local guide is the best way to really get to know a place. Skip the crowds, follow your interests, and see a side of Mendoza most travellers miss.
