The North of Argentina is diverse, colorful, full of history and with a deep Native background that is still alive in its cultural manifestations: food, festivities, music and beliefs. This region has always been a crossroads for cultural, social and economic communications: the earliest settlements go back to 9, 000 BP and they continue until today. Purmamarca, the most picturesque and representative town of the UNESCO site Quebrada de Humahuaca (since 2003) and get a taste of the Altiplano (a unique altitude plateau characteristic to South América) by visiting Salinas Grandes. Let us be amazed by the dramatic vegetation decrease beginning at the very lush Yungas forest following through the valleys and then climbing the second highest range of the Andes, the stunning Cordillera Oriental to finally arrive to the Puna Altiplano. The highlights are not only of the landscape but also of the way people live and organize their economy. A day to photograph, eat and breathe the Andes.
City of Salta (departure from hotel) Cornisa road (we will drive through this altitude rainforest with lush vegetation) Jujuy We will drive through this city Purmamarca (we will stop at this town, walk, see craft markets, options for lunch) Cuesta de Lipan (an outstanding slope with a winding road that reaches 4, 200 masl, there will be viewpoints to stop for photos) Salinas Grandes (we will stop here to visit, have contact with local communities, etc) Return to the city of Salta on the same road. Estimated time of tour: 10 hours
