I'm Jezabel, but my friends call me Jes. I was born and raised in Salta. I spent my childhood reading everything about History, Geography, Literature and so on, and I had the chance to live a couple of months in England, that helped me to improve my english speaking. And that's why my work as a tour guide started as son as I was 21 years old in 2005. While I was doing my degree as a Professor in History at University, I also worked in the High Altitude Archeological Museum (MAAM) which is nowadays the most visited museum in the country. That also expanded my knowledge of the richness of the culture and history that we have at the North West of Argentina. Currently, I´m a PhD Canditate in Social and Cultural Studies at the UNSA, and on my free time I still work doing some historical and anthropological research. I turn my trips into a way of living, I enjoy being a guide, but also being a tourist. I spent a couple of years traveling around Asia, Italy and South America. This helped me to discover that in difference there is always something in common. This is a dialectical relationship that is created in the journey of traveling. Talking, learning, sharing is part of the many things that happens when we are open to know something new. Being an interpreter, not just a guide, has given me the chance to interact with individuals from all over the world, and I consider myself fortunate to learn from them, and share my experiences with them too. I have an easygoing personality, that I believe enables me to connect with travelers on a slightly deeper level and make their adventures in the Argentinean NW unforgettable. I would love to take you to the mountains, enjoy the good wines of the region and our fabulous food that are a great part of the NW culture. All my tours can be customized so we can find the best for you! Credited tour guide by Ministerio de Turismo de Salta Credited guide by Parque Nacional Los Cardones Professor in History (Universidad Nacional de Salta) First Aid training Professional driving license None.

Overview of your Salta tour

On this trip, we will visit the Calchaquies Valley, where the landscape changes with the different mountain colors and shapes. Cactus that blooms in summer, protected in a National Park, and the wildlife that includes guanacos and condors. All of these, and much more are waiting to be discovered. This valley hides the history of the indigenous peoples that domesticated corn, potatoes, and chillis, which nowadays are part of the heritage of the zone. The battles they fought against the conquests are still visible in the tradition that the First Nations conserve and are willing to show us: their food, artistic expressions, and many other traces. About 150 years ago, the first vineyards were installed in this rich zone, creating a unique wine with the most representative grape, the Torrontes. Also, it is a great time to try our high-altitude Malbec and other grapes that will be greatly paired with regional food.

Your Salta tour itinerary

On the first day, we will drive to the Calchaqui Valley, crossing a high point of 3. 400 m. a. s. l. where we will visit the Parque Nacional Los Cardones. Then we will visit Cachi and continue to Molinos to sleep (optional, there are other places along the Valley to sleep like Cachi, La Paya...) The next day, while we are driving along the iconic Route 40, we will stop in the Quebrada de las Flechas, where we will be delighted by the arrow shape of the mountain formation. Optional: After that, we will arrive to one First Nation Community to learn more about them and also to share a meal. In the afternoon, we will arrive at Cafayate and we will sleep there. The third day we are going to visit two wineries here, where we are going to have lunch in one of them. After that, we will return to Salta and enjoy, on our way, the breathtaking landscape of the Quebrada de las Conchas. This trip can be customized.
