Guide #54118
Ohlala! Here's another Paris guide! And yet, not the one you expected! I'm Frederic, a Belgian man lost in Paris. I have always worked in Culture when in Belgium, organizing a rock festival in a kindergarten school in the countryside, assisting a contemporary dance company, the Brussels Opera or the Brussels Fine Arts Museum, and even editing books! PLEASE READ MY PROFILE CAREFULLY BEFORE CONTACTING ME - I DO NOT DO ANY MUSEUM (the Louvre, Versailles, Orsay, Catacombes…) OR THE EIFFEL TOWER I arrived in Paris in 2012 and the least I can say is that before coming here, Paris would definitely not have been on my top list of places where I wanted to live. And yet, it didn't take me more than a week to get me into it and up for it! I directly felt myself at home in Paris and after some years working for a European architecture competition, I decided I should fly away and create my own guiding company! And here I am, excited to share my love for Paris! I will bring you to districts long forgotten by tourists and visited by Parisians only! My favourite subjects -and the ones I will be most talkative about- are literature, architecture and urbanism, contemporary art, photography, craftsmanship, history and… French culture, évidemment! As a foreigner, I have discovered Paris through the districts where I was living, which were the first ones I started to guide through. I was -and still am- a foreigner, yet also a localer, up to show you where to go and what to do, and at the same time, understand you like no Frenchmen would! :-) I have also been teaching for over 10 years. I used to teach English when I was in Brussels and I am now teaching Cultural Tourism at the Sorbonne University. I was also among the very first CouchSurfing hosts, happy to welcome people at my place and even more when I could spend time with them to show them around my district. À bientôt ! Please note all my tours can be customized and adapted to your needs. - 10+ years living in Paris - Masters degree in Translation (English-Spanish) - Masters degree in Social Communication - 10+ years experience teaching (English and Cultural Tourism at the Sorbonne University) - 5+ years experience guiding in Paris - Wine and Spirit Education Trust (WSET) level 2 in wine - Civic Prevention and Rescue Level 1 - I do not have a license to give tours inside historical monuments. - I am not a driver. I can accompany you in your vehicle or arrange for a separate car and driver. - I don't do High School groups.
