Guide #73625
I'm not a fan of Wikipedia facts on city tours. I'd much rather show you my city the way I experience it every day. Born and raised in Sarajevo, I spent almost ten years living away from it — Germany, France, Austria, Czechia, South Africa — until I returned in 2021. This time not only as a Bosnian, but as a curious traveller too, with perspectives I'd collected along the way. I realised tourism here is still stuck on headlines from the 90s. Which is a shame, because there's so much more. Food, landscapes, everyday customs and culture nobody is talking about or showing. Filling that gap is what my tours are for. They'll treat you to a local lunch at my friend Nera's cottage in Lukomir, a demonstration of my coppersmith friend Kenan's work during our city tour, or a glass of rakija with my dad Mahmut during a barbecue in our garden. We call this ćejf — the small moments that make life worth living. I bring deep knowledge of Bosnia and Herzegovina, but as someone who studied and worked internationally, I also draw parallels to world history and politics. You never have to be too polite to ask me what you really want to know. Things here can seem complicated, and I'll walk you through it the way I'd explain it to a friend, not a lecture hall. What sets a day with me apart is access to the lived reality of Bosnia and Herzegovina: my actual friends, my actual family, the places I already go and love. What my guests tell me most often is that travelling with me feels like having a local friend. So if that's the kind of day you're craving, I'm your guide.
