Find out why Sarajevo is a link between the East and the West and what influence did different cultures have on our architecture and lifestyle in general. Sarajevo became known worldwide due to 3 big events: the assassination that initiated the World War I, the 1984 Olympics and the Siege of Sarajevo in the 90s. We will visit the Latin Bridge and the place where Franz Ferdinand was assassinated as well as see some of the still persisting scars from the last war. However, there is much more to see here. We will discuss how did Sarajevo get its name and what did the Ottomans and Austro-Hungarians do for it. We will also discover the specific local lifestyle - the way our streets look alike, the reasons for our general stubbornness as well as the very optimistic spirit of our citizens during the siege, coffee - nation's ultimate favorite drink and how does Bosnian coffee differ from Turkish. Last but not least, we will enjoy the plurality of Sarajevo with its multiple mosques, churches and synagogues.
- Latin Bridge (Sarajevo Assassination 1914), - Emperor's Mosque, - Isa Bey's Hamam, - Franciscan Church and Monastery of St. Anthony of Padua, - Sarajevo Beer Factory, - Alifakovac Neighborhood, - City Hall/National Library, Spite House, - Coppersmiths Street (old handcrafts), - Ottoman warehouses, Sebilj, - Caravanserai, - Ghazi Husrev Bey's Mosque, - Madrasah, Hanikah, Bey's Library, - Old Clock Tower, Sweet Corner, - Bazaar, Stone Inn, Pub Street, - Meeting of Cultures Line, - Old Jewish Temple, - Cathedral of Jesus' Sacred Heart, - Orthodox Congregational Church of the Holy Mother, - Alija Izetbegovic Square
