Overview of your Sarajevo tour
Bjelašnica is a mountain in central Bosnia and Herzegovina. It stretches to the southwest of Sarajevo with the tallest peak, by which the whole mountain group got its name, rises to an elevation of 2067 meters (6782 feet). The Bjelašnica range is bordered by the river Rakitnica in the south, the Neretva river in the west, Mt Igman in the northeast and Mt Ivan in the northwest. Mountain is, with only 20 minutes distance from Sarajevo, a popular tourist attraction for hiking and skiing. During the 1984 Winter Olympics, Bjelašnica hosted alpine skiing events.

We had a perfect day in the beautiful, unspoilt Bjelasnica mountain range learning about the area as Ahmed told colourful local folk stories . With the blue sky and sunny weather the glorious autumnal colours were amazing as we walked to the edge of Rakitnica canyon. The day ended with rustic home cooked food at the Koliba cafe in Umoljani - local lamb with potatoes and still warm home made bread and cheese washed down with mountain spring water and sarejevska pivo and Ahmed's charming company. Fantastic day hike tour to Vijenac peak - Ahmed was very familiar with the mountains and paced the hike according to the fitness levels of the participants. Lots of opportunities for great pictures. Shared history of Sarajevo and Bosnia in general and highlighted major landmarks along the way. Great day out. Highly recommended!

Your Sarajevo tour itinerary
- Tour is starting from Sarajevo in early morning (45 minutes of driving to the mountain) - Bjelasnica ski resort (main ski resort in the country, place where alpine skiing competitions where held for 1984. Winter Olympic games - After ski resort we will drive to southern side of the mountain for: Umoljani medieval necropolis, Umoljani old Ottoman mosque with unique architecture, Cold creek hike Umoljani watermills We will come back to Sarajevo in evening time (4-5 pm)
