Trebević mountain is one of the four Olympic mountains surrounding Sarajevo in which 14th Olympic Games took place in 1984. Before the siege of Sarajevo (1992-1995), the mountain was the favourite resort spot of people from Sarajevo („Sarajlije") and it was connected with the city by cableway installations. The mountain is rich with coniferous forest making it ideal for walking especially in the summer months. Trebevic's highest peak is „Sofe", 1. 629 meters, with a beautiful view of the city of Sarajevo and Sarajevo field.
The other side of sarajevo is her majestic mountains. Reaching the peak of Trabevic Mountain was an absolutely amazing experience. You will be in safe hands with Ahmed and learn its role during the seige, among other things. Stimulating conversations and his invaluable perspectives on various issues en route were enlightening. We had a wonderful time with Ahmed. His masters in history came in handy as we discussed not just the history of Bosnia and the Balkans but the history of Europe as well. He had great perspective and insight into so many historical events. Our hike to the top of Trebevic Mountain was enjoyable. Since we visited Sarajevo in February, we hiked through ice and snow. Ahmed took good care of us every step along the way and we returned safely. We highly recommend this tour to all energetic travelers.
