Good morning Viet Nam !!!!! My name is Hien. I am a freelancer in Sai Gon and I am original from the Mekong Delta. To pursue my dream becoming a tour guide I have studied language major and get the international license in tourism. I also love to travel and I do understand the meaning of guiding in tourism. One time I got a very bad experience with a tour I was taking part, and since then I always do my best to avoid that guests experience negative feelings while on tour. . . when you take a tour, it should be all about pleasure! I have been working as a translator with a local tour company providing tours to Cu Chi Tunnels, including dinner with veterans. I learned a lot from the questions guests were asking, and I normally put these in my tours (interesting facts, real stories, point of view. . . ) I strongly believe that tours related to the Vietnam War are not about killings, winners or losers. It's history, and we are here to learn from the past. I also love to share about the culture and lifestyle of my hometown throughout my experience I was grown up in the Mekong Delta. "When you are in Vietnam do as VietNamese do" I would love to explain to you What? Why ? and How ? to do as we do!!! . After the tour, you will have a lot of wonderful things to "put" in your pockets and bring back home!!! We had a great day with Hien exploring Saigon and the Mekong Delta. We loved the various forms of transport and seeing local village life as well as some sights of the city and the War Remnants museum. Hien is very friendly and knowledgeable and accommodated our change of flight schedule with no problems. Highly recommend.
Hien was an amazing guide for our 2 days in Ho Chi Minh City. He planned the most unique personal tour of the Mekong Delta. We traveled in our own boat and transferred to a wonderful walking path in the depths of the Delta. What we experienced could not have happened on a large tour. Hien was magical in what he arranged. The next day, we went on his city tour, mostly by cyclo bikes through the small alleys of the markets. Hien’s English is wonderful and his knowledge of Vietnamese history is outstanding. He is patient and kind. The car he provides is clean and air conditioned, and the driver courteous. We had such a great experience with Hien that we booked a third day with him when our ship returns to Ho Chi Minh City next week.
What an incredible day exploring the Mekong Delta and Ho Chi Minh City with ToursByLocals and our guide Hein (aka Tom)! Tom is a fantastic young bloke with a wealth of knowledge about the history and culture of this amazing region. He made the experience both educational and enjoyable. The tour had us switching between all kinds of transport – from buses and boats to Sampans and even tricycles! Each mode of travel offered a unique perspective of the vibrant scenery and local life. Hien is a very knowledgeable guide. We enjoyed our tour with him and booked him for another day. He was sensitive to the topics that were covered in the areas we visited and helped us understand both sides of the Vietnam War, enabling us to think and come to our own conclusions. We visited a flower market, food market, the War Museum and many other sites. Hien was able to navigate us through a myriad of areas, something we could not have done on our own!
