Ho Chi Minh City, formerly named and still informally known as Saigon, is the largest and most populous city in Vietnam, It used to be capital of the South Vietnamese, known as "Pearl of the Far East". This is a city which has seen a lot of history, from its origins in the Khmer-ruled era in the 17th century when the area was part of Cambodia, to its incorporation into Vietnam under the Nguyễn dynasty in the 18th century, then the colonial period under the French from 1859 to 1955. Then it became the capital of South Vietnam until 1975 at the end of the Vietnam War. Nowadays it is one of Vietnam's most powerful magnets for foreign direct investment, so it is playing the most important role in developing of economy of Vietnam and it certainly accounts for a high proportion of the country's economy.

Khang, goes by Kevin, is one of the most personable guides that I have worked with. First class all the way! From reservations to a premium spa, lunch at one of the best seafood restaurants I've been to, a detailed tour, by an expert, of an herbal history museum followed by a world class presentation at a music house where we were educated and entertained by two of the most amazing musicians I've ever seen topped off by a dinner cruise with entertainers and delicious multiple course meal!

We really liked our guide and driver. They were both very professional and personable. Of note, our private 2 person tour was not under a rigid format. We were taken to some amazing places and provided background history that was very informative. We were really happy to visit and eat at the restaurant visited by President Obama. In addition to seeing the highlights of Ho Chi Minh City (and he provided detailed information during the tour) he took us to a great restaurant for pho for lunch. It was delicious. If you are interested in the history of the Vietnam War, then we recommend that you take the time to visit the History Museum and War Remnants Museum or you can explore the secrets of reincarnation stories at Jade Emperor Pagoda. - Tea break at the local coffee shop (cost of drinks are not included) - Visit Ben Thanh market and lacquer ware factory - Have lunch at local Vietnamese Pho restaurant - Drive back the cruise ship port. Notes: The above itinerary can be flexible and changeable to best fit with your schedule and preference to make sure you have an enjoyable trip. It takes only 40 minutes' drive if your cruise is docked at Hiep Phuoc Port.
