Hi! My name is Mariana. I'm a Uruguayan woman who loves her country, its culture and would love to share it with you! If you are looking for an interesting and different tour, look no further! I'm a philosophy student, and maybe that explains why I have a big range of interests. I love music and dance, I have studied salsa, folklore, tango and candombe. As almost every Uruguayan, I play football, that's our national sport, if you don't like football, you are not Uruguayan! I have studied English all my life; I have worked as an English teacher in an institute and also in customer service of a famous American Company. I therefore have an advanced level in the language. Uruguay is a beautiful country, with a beautiful culture, a very rich history and the people are really warm, I proudly say that I'm Uruguayan. I can't imagine myself living away from Uruguay. If you let me, I can show you why I'm saying this. The amazing view of "la Rambla", the continuous move between past and present in the "Ciudad Vieja", the enormous variety of flavors and smells in our gastronomy, or the dozens of surprising stories that are hidden in every corner of our city, are just a small part of the things to discover on our tour. I would enjoy a lot being your guide, and provide you with all the knowledge and passion I have for this place in order to make this experience unforgettable. Philosophy Teacher English Teacher -I cannot pick you inside the port but I can meet you in a pre-arranged location just outside the Port and walk to the vehicle.

This is a walking tour through the "Old city", the neighborhood that used to be the whole city of Montevideo back in the colonial times, located right infront of the port. Nowadays it represents less than 5% of the Montevideo area, but it's the perfect place the mixture of the old with the new, being also the financial district of the city. As a philosophy person, "why" is my favourite word. Uruguay has a complex history and the Uruguayan culture is really rich. Squares, monuments, interesting buildings, historic places and a nostalgic atmosphere are elements that we'll find in this area that will help us to understand the uruguayan phenomenon: a tiny country between two potencies with a small population, historically a vanguard in political and social matters, with a big porcentage of atheist and a cultural center of the region. Why? We'll be able to aswer that in the "old city", while enjoying the views of the sea in this beautiful peninsula. It'd be a pleasure for me to show you my city and its secrets.
This a basic structure than can be changed to tailor made the tour: -We'll meet in Independencia Square if you are hosted in Montevideo, or in the port if you are cruiser. -Independence square: government offices, the main avenue 18th July, citadel gate. -Sarandí pedestrian street. -Constitution (or Matriz) Square with the town hall, the Cathedral, the fountain, and other historical buildings. -Walking Old-town. -Port Market and port area: the soty of the city since the port point of view, notices from the second war. -Zabala's square, remembers of Montevieo's foundation, the golden age in the beginning of 20th century, and present times. -Solís theater (opera house). Note: If you are cruiser, the tour will start in the port and will finish in the port
