Hello and welcome!! I'm Michelle, born and raised here in my home town, Montevideo. It's my pleasure sharing my wonderful city with visitors, one of the things I enjoy most. I began my English studies at the age of 5 as a second language, having family living in the United States and England. I have lived for three years in Brazil so I also speak Portuguese fluently. I'm passionate about my city, its endless variety of natural landscapes and historic wonders, its spectacular white sand beaches and seaside promenade and many beautiful green areas. I will enjoy showing you around my city. I graduated from College as a National and International Tourist Guide. I have also lived for five months at Boston University, USA. practicing my English and travelling around exploring different amazing cities and learning about their history and culture. I worked as a bilingual English-Spanish Secretary at two Import/Export companies in Montevideo. I love knowing about different cultures and I enjoy meeting people from all over the world. I speak Spanish, English, Portuguese and understand some German, not as perfect as I would wish. It's my pleasure to offer you customized tours built around your interests. We'll go around this eclectic city and discover its amazing sites, from its historic downtown business district, art deco and neoclassical buildings as well as modern architecture next to the city's 30 km beaches, to the exclusive residential neighborhoods of Punta Carretas and Pocitos. Michelle was a great guide . During our one day visit to Uruguay she did a wonderful job showing us the sights of Montevideo. The history, the architecture and the history of the area were very well explained and highlighted! The visit to the winery was a lovely experience from start to finish. Absolutely loved our personal tour with Michelle V in Montevideo. She took us to all the places we wanted to see and was very knowledgeable about the history of her town and even included a winery tour. Would highly recommend Tours By Locals!
Michelle was wonderful! We spent an extremely pleasant day away from the crowds visiting both the old and new Montevideo and its lovely seaside residential areas while hearing about its fascinating history, including Michelle's personal family's escape to Montevideo aboard the last ship to leave Europe before the onset of the Holocaust in the early 1940's. Included was a visit to a small, picturesque winery offering a 2 hour wine-making tour plus wine-tasting with delicious tapas..A perfect day!
We thoroughly enjoyed or visit to Montevideo with Michelle. Our party of four had plenty of space in a comfortable van. We first visited the "city center", before visiting one of the most prominent wineries in Uruguay. We had a brief tour and explanation of the wine process before the wine tasting. All of the wines tasted were very good. A "snack" was served with each wine. The approximately $35 dollar charge for the tasting and wine tour was fair - however purchasing additional wine was a bit pricey.
Michelle is a super tour guide. Our ship changed its schedule and Michelle adapted our tour extremely well. She knows her city and is proud to show it off. She is very personable and we all enjoyed ourselves. She escorted us to the winery in a very comfortable van with a highly professional driver. I can't say enough good things about Michelle and this tour. I have recommended her to others travelling to Montevideo and will use her when we visit again.

Note on meeting location: If you are cruisers, after leaving the cruise, walk along a green path about 200 yards to the Port exit blue iron bar door. It's behind some trees next to the Tourism Ministry. I'll be next to this exit holding a sign with your name. If you don't find me, please give me a personal call.
