I've lived and worked in San Francisco since 1975, and am quite fond of—and, perhaps, slightly jaundiced toward—my long-adopted home, a. k. a. "The City". I have been numbered as a local student/practitioner of fine, commercial and industrial arts: commercial graphics, multi-media design, and as a craftsman in our once-mighty commercial printing industry. I'm occasionally zealous in defense/restoration of natural habitats, parks, regional agriculture, and historic architecture. Special appreciation must go to food—glorious food! Cosmopolitanism has its benefits; San Francisco is a foodie's paradise. The ride never ends. Truly I am a tourist in my own life here in "The City", "Baghdad by the Bay", "The Queen of the Pacific", "Fog City", or (more poetically) "the cool, grey city of love". This walking tour starts around Union Square downtown and is *unafraid* of the steep hills to come. We ascend Nob Hill, cross Broadway onward over Russian Hill and descend into the Fisherman's Wharf District. The exact itinerary is flexible. Options along the way include some zig-zagging to cross beautiful parks, noteworthy museums, tasty neighborhood treats and--even--the "crookedest street in the world. " We'll end up at a famous location in Fisherman's Wharf, e. g. Ghirardelli Square, Pier 45 (THE Fisherman's Wharf) or Pier 39. What neighborhood went from least expensive to most expensive? How crooked is "The Crookedest", anyhow? How many refined ristoranti, bodegas and elegant watering holes are hidden in plain sight in these posh neighborhoods? Ya gotta hike the hills to see!
We include: 1) Start downtown around Union Square or nearby hotel; 2) Cross Nob Hill with The Fairmont, Grace Cathedral, and the "Rice-a-Roni" View; 3) Options on Russian Hill may include the original Swenson's Ice Cream parlour, the first 'Bohemian' quarter, what put the 'Russian' in the hill, views, vistas, "The Crookedest", historic monuments, posh places, octagon houses and other earthquake survivors, more views, more vistas. 4) We end up in Fisherman's Wharf [with a healthy appetite!]

Meet at Union Square or an Union Square Hotel. Once in Fisherman's Wharf there is excellent public transport (MUNI streetcars and cable cars) back downtown.
