I love the island of Oahu for all the outdoor activities she offers: hiking, swimming, canoe paddling, etc. But there's more to like about the Hawaiian Islands than natural beauty. The history and mythology of the Hawaiian people captivate locals and visitors alike. I enjoy learning about them and sharing my knowledge. When family or friends visit, I take them around to the places I enjoy (sightseeing, restaurants, activities) or, if time does not permit, I draw up itineraries for them to explore on their own. From President Obama's favorite shave ice stand to hidden waterfalls and spectacular vistas, I will help you discover way more of the island than you could driving a rental car. Visit Pearl Harbor, including the USS Arizona Memorial, Visitors Center exhibits and documentary film. See Hawaiian historical sites such as Iolani Palace (exterior), King Kamehameha I statue, Old Kawaiaha'o Church. Discover East Oahu, from Diamond Head Lookout to Halona Blow Hole, Makapu'u Lookout and award-winning Waimanalo Beach. Take in the view of the Windward Coast from the Pali Lookout and cruise through the rain forest where traffic slows with the flow of Nu'uanu Stream and the sound of birds chirping. This tour was everything we were hoping for and much, much more. Donna is a wonderful guide who is extremely personable and knowledgeable of Honolulu. We had a late flight going home, and only had that window of opportunity to visit Honolulu. What she was able to show us of the island in that 8-hour window was amazing and has definitely made us want to come back and visit more. Thank you, Donna, for making our day so memorable. Donna was an outstanding tour guide, making sure that we saw both the main sites on Oahu as well as the hidden ones. It was clear that she had good knowledge of the area, knew the history, and picked up on what our group was into and tailored the tour towards that. It was great to be in the middle of bustling Honolulu one minute and then suddenly hiking in the rainforest the next. We felt we had gotten a good taste for the island when we left and Donna was a large reason behind that.
Donna was very accommodating as we has one traveler in a wheelchair. Saw lots of sites around Oahu.
Donna's knowledge of the area was impressive. The tour was not only enjoyable for my entire family, but also very engaging and educational. We enjiyed it very much and would highly recommend this tour.
Donna is a delight. She made the day fun for our whole family. My kids 17, 13, & 13 enjoyed the stops, the snacks, and her commentary. Her van was really comfortable. We loved the shave ice, the overlook to the "Here to Eternity" beach, the Arizona memorial (she made it exceptionally easy to avoid the crowds) , and especially the lunch at Nico's. She has a welcoming manner and is really easy to work with. It was a great value.
We had a really good time with her. I left my sunglasses in her car and she went out of her way to return them to me. So nice of her.
Depending on the availability of reservations for the USS Arizona Memorial, we head for Pearl Harbor after I pick you up OR we head east to Diamond Head Lookout. If you have a sweet tooth, we'll pick up Portuguese malasadas at Leonard's Bakery or hold off in favor of a treat later in the day. In the winter months, we may see whales from Halona Blow Hole or Makapu'u Lookout. Drive up the coast toward Waimanalo and one of the most beautiful and lightly-populated beaches on Oahu. At 1200 feet (385 mtrs), the Pali Lookout offers a panoramic view of the Windward Coast from Kailua to Kualoa. If we didn't visit Pearl Harbor in the morning, we do so after lunch.
