I have a lifelong interest in American history. Having grown up in Boston and attended Boston Latin School, Boston University, and Harvard Business School, I'm steeped in Boston history and local lore. I also have a strong interest in architecture and know the ins and outs of historic Boston buildings and homes. Over the years, I've led many visitors on specialty tours about this wonderful city and surrounding areas, and love nothing more than sharing this interest with people like you. - 15 years leading history and architectural heritage tours around Boston as a hobby - 4 years on annual house tour selection committee and house docent for Historic Newton - Lifelong Boston resident - Education: Boston Latin (oldest public school in the country), Boston University, Harvard Business School - Licensed tour guide for Town of Concord - Member, Mass. Historical Society Tour is best suited for adults. Since this is a walking tour in a historic area, keep in mind sidewalks/streets may be cobble-stoned and uneven. In some places, there may also be gradual or steep inclines.

Overview of your Boston tour

Our walking tour covers key sites along the Freedom Trail and tells the engaging stories that led Boston from its Colonial beginnings to its being dubbed the Hub of the Universe in the 19th Century. You'll learn the backstory of the Boston Massacre and what really happened, why buildings like Fanueil Hall and the Old State House have withstood 250+ years of Boston weather. You'll see the site of the publishing house that led Boston to become the literary capital for many 19th century American authors. You'll even see the sites of many other firsts - such as public school and church that hosted abolitionist movement and where Battle Hymn of the Republic was first sung. You'll also be introduced to the architectural vision of Charles Bulfinch and the role his State House design played in the building of the U. S. Capitol. You'll understand why August Saint Gaudens' memorial to the Mass. 54th Regiment is often considered his masterpiece and its inspirational role in commemorating the Civil War.
