Hello - my name is Jessica and welcome to Sweden - Välkommen! I am so happy you have chosen to travel to Sweden and visit Stockholm - my home city where I have lived half of my life. I will be travelling in Europe this winter and will be back mid-June 2026 and look forward to showing you Stockholm then. Whether you are here for a long visit or just for short while - I would love to show you my home town and introduce you to our Swedish culture and traditions whilst showing you some unique parts of Stockholm and its surroundings, places that are off the beaten track as well as all the "must sees"! I would like to offer you a very Swedish experience. If, before your trip, you would like to get an in depth knowledge of Swedish Culture and Stockholm I have published a book about Stockholm introducing foreigners, expats and diplomats to 'the Swedish way of life' - you will find it on Amazon under the title "Stockholm, Sweden - At Your Fingertips". I also had the honour of guiding Rick Steves in Stockholm in 2023 as he needed to update his book after the pandemic. As a daughter of a Swedish diplomat I have lived abroad half of my life - in Belgium, Kenya, Israel, Greece etc. and what a fantastic world this is! Now I would like to share with you "my world" here in Sweden. I would love to show you the sights and sounds of Stockholm. Experience the old and new City. If you have already been here before, why not let me show you the tranquil suburb of Lidingö - away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Maybe a hike through one of our nature reserves, visit a farm from the 18th century and for the hardy, maybe a dip in the lake. Overview of your Stockholm tour
When you have been on this tour, you will have a pretty good idea of the layout of Stockholm and an understanding of how Swedes live their life. This tour will cover parts of the old town (albeit on foot as it is restricted to vehicles), many of the Stockholm islands including the green lush "Djurgarden" where many of my favourite museums are. We will have the car as close by as possible, to minimize walking. At the time of writing new car restriction laws are being implemented and some new areas will be restricted to private cars in the city - so parts will have to be visited on foot. I hope you will join me on this "Tour of Stockholm" so I can show you as much as possible of my home city. Välkommen!
Your Stockholm tour itinerary
We will meet up at your hotel/port or somewhere centrally in Stockholm depending on where you are arriving. We will start with a short walk from your hotel/or parking place to the old town "Gamla Stan" with the Royal Castle, the Cathedral and walk through the cobbled alley ways full of history. Cars are restricted in the Old Town "Gamla Stan" but I will park as close to the Old Town as possible. Then we will drive to Djurgården where I suggest we stop for a visit at the Vasa Museum. Time permitting we will take a panorama tour of the rest of the city before I make sure to get you back to where you are staying. I am always flexible and happy to customise your tour to fit your interests.

By car in a VW Sharan with sun roof. It can take up to 6 passengers, but has a little less leg room in the back 2 seats. Cars are not allowed in parts of the old town "Gamla Stan" as well as some other areas of the city. I will arrange to park close to the different areas we are visiting. Please be aware that there are plenty of cobbled stoned streets in the Old Town that can be uneven and sometimes a bit difficult to walk on. The transportation by private vehicle is at no charge*.
