Hello - my name is Jessica and welcome to Sweden - Välkommen! I am so happy you have chosen to travel to Sweden and visit Stockholm - my home city where I have lived half of my life. I will be travelling in Europe this winter and will be back mid-June 2026 and look forward to showing you Stockholm then. Whether you are here for a long visit or just for short while - I would love to show you my home town and introduce you to our Swedish culture and traditions whilst showing you some unique parts of Stockholm and its surroundings, places that are off the beaten track as well as all the "must sees"! If, before your trip, you would like to get an in depth knowledge of Swedish Culture and Stockholm I have published a book about Stockholm introducing foreigners, expats and diplomats to 'the Swedish way of life' - you will find it on Amazon under the title "Stockholm, Sweden - At Your Fingertips". I also had the honour of guiding Rick Steves in Stockholm in 2023 as he needed to update his book after the pandemic. As a daughter of a Swedish diplomat I have lived abroad half of my life - in Belgium, Kenya, Israel, Greece etc. and what a fantastic world this is! Now I would like to share with you "my world" here in Sweden. I would love to show you the sights and sounds of Stockholm. Experience the old and new City. Overview of your Stockholm tour
When you have been on this tour, you will have a pretty good idea of the layout of Stockholm and an understanding of how Swedes live their life. This tour will cover many parts of the city - the Old Town (Gamla Stan) Södermalm as well as the green lush "Djurgarden" where many of my favourite museums are. You might even like to visit some of the beautiful Stockholm suburbs - maybe the UNESCO world heritage Woodland cemetery where Greta Garbo lies or why not the Drottningholm where our Crown Princess family reside. We will have the car all the time, to minimize walking. You will receive maps and information of the places we visit, as well as recommendations for good restaurants. We thoroughly enjoyed our day in Stockholm with Jessica. She provided excellent details of the city past and present while we drove in comfort with a panoramic view from her car. Jessica took us on an easy walking tour with perfect timing to see changing of the guard and other views with her in-depth knowledge of points of interest. We were delighted with traditional tastes and customs. We were overwhelmed by the Vassa ship and Jessica's extensive knowledge of the ship's history and restoration ensured we were fully informed. Our second tour with Jessica started with a private tour of the City Hall and then a trip to the island of Lidingo. Jessica has personal experiences with both places and we enjoyed her candid information about each. The Hall is beautiful and the island is an interesting change from Gamla Stan and Stockholm. Jessica's driving was comfortable and prompt, and her flexibility is top-notched. Experience with the Lidingo Church and Cemetery were sweet, and the lunch by the lake was lovely. We decided to see the Millesgarden instead of taking a ferry, and absolutely enjoyed our day. Thank you, Jessica, for your personal and knowledgeable service. You are an exceptional guide!

Your Stockholm tour itinerary
If you are ok with walking we will start off with a tour on foot through the mediaeval alley ways of the Old Town. Cars are restricted in the Old Town "Gamla Stan" and this is the best way of experiencing it. We will have the car nearby and continue the tour by car. On the way if you get peckish, we can stop for a Swedish "Fika" - a coffee and something sweet. We will drive to Djurgården where I suggest we stop for a visit at the Vasa Museum. If there is one museum you should not miss, then this is the one! If you feel like it you might like to stop for a traditional Swedish lunch and there are some lovely places on the way for this - maybe some meatballs? Maybe you would like for me to book a table at the famous Ulla Winbladh - where the locals love to eat? You will also have the possibility of seeing the suburbs of the city - why not a drive out to Drottningholm, Lidingö, Haga Park or the Woodland cemetery? You can decide when I have told you more about the choices.

By car in a VW Sharan with sun roof. It can take up to 6 passengers, but has a little less leg room in the back 2 seats. Cars are not allowed in the old town "Gamla Stan" but I can arrange to park close by and we can walk in. Please be aware that there are plenty of cobbled stoned streets that can be uneven and sometimes a bit difficult to walk on.
