I have been in the wine industry either part or full-time for the last 30 years and I have been a wine specialist guide for almost 2 decades. I developed an insatiable curiosity for all the facets of the wine industry when I sat in on some of Cape Wine Academy's Diploma Level lectures. This prompted me to begin my own studies and I have been learning about wine ever since. Someone once asked me how much I know about wine, my answer remains the same today: "I know enough about wine to know that I know next to nothing. " What I do know is that I love taking people on tours through the magical vineyards in the Western Cape. There are so many to choose from and so little time… When you come on a tour with me, you will be treated to interesting out-of-the-classroom lessons and discussions which may include geography, history, science, politics, philosophy, sociology and art, not to mention an introduction to the myriad culinary delights that this part of the world has to offer! I completed the Diploma Courses with The Cape Wine Academy and have been a registered wine specialist tour guide for nearly 20 years. * I don't have any restrictions on my tours.

I will fetch you from your accommodation and drive you to one of the following two of the Cape's exquisite wine regions where we will visit two fabulous wineries for some interesting tastings and a wine cellar tour. I will then drive you back to your accommodation completely satisfied and full of the good things in life. CHOOSE FROM: Constantia This world renowned wine growing region with her premium, award winning cool climate Sauvignon Blancs and Bordeaux Blends is just a magical 20 minutes drive from the V&A Waterfront. Nestled beneath Table Mountain National Park and commanding unsurpassed vistas of False Bay and the Constantiaberg & Table Mountain Ranges, lies this, the oldest wine-making region in South Africa. Durbanville Just a short 20 minutes' drive from Cape Town, Durbanville is, perhaps, best known for its outstanding flinty, herbaceous Sauvignon Blancs. Outstanding cool climate examples of Chardonnay, Shiraz, Pinotage and Merlot are also produced this pretty little hilly wine area.
Kim D. is a fantastic local guide. She showed us the most beautiful sites around the Cape, including some great spontaneous stops at a lively local market and an ostrich farm. She is also a wine expert and can create a wonderful wine tasting itinerary for you. Most importantly, Kim is a warm and welcoming person who graciously answered all our questions about the area and its wonderful people.
This was our second time using Kim as our Capetown guide, who we now consider a friend. Kim is everything you would desire in a guide—knowledgable, friendly, organized, timely and a good driver. Kim know Capetown so well and shares her knowledge and secrets with you. She took us to the best winery where we enjoyed the surroundings, wine and food—-so picturesque ! And we thoroughly enjoyed the cheetah experience—pet a baby cheetah and learned so much about South African wildlife. We thoroughly recommend Kim!!
We had a memorable day wine tasting with Kim. Despite being beginners, she made us feel comfortable and taught us a great deal about wine. She also knew many of the workers at the vineyard which made us feel even more welcome. She has a warm personality and is easy to talk with. Highly recommend this tour and Kim as your guide!
We had such a great tour with Kim! She really knows South Africa’s history and we learned so much from her. She took us to wonderful wineries where she and we were warmly welcomed. She is obviously well versed in South African wine and shared interesting insights into its history and the modern state of the wine industry. We also enjoyed getting a local’s perspective on South Africa generally. She was on time and great communication. I recommend Kim as a great guide!
We weren't the easiest clients for Kim but she did a great job trying to fit our tour to our needs. Table Mountain was crazy busy and a fire in the woods below the base caused extra confusion. We decided to avoid the hassle. We drove around town, learned about the history of Cape Town, had lunch at a local pub, and visited a jewelry shop for a private showing that was very rewarding. Thanks for being a great host Kim!
