I am a registered private tourist guide for the Western Cape (South Africa) - (WC4682). I was the first South African registered to guide in Russian, but that doesn't exclude me from doing your tour in English or Afrikaans (for the Dutch or Flemish). I was born in Namibia (South West Africa) lived all over South Africa and fell in love with the Garden Route and know it like the back of my hand. I also travelled extensively through Russia, parts of the former Soviet Union and Southern Africa. All of this comes out as part of my guiding. My approach to guiding is not to lecture people and give them boring dates, but to make friends and to show my new found friends this amazing place I live in!!! I have realised that the touring world has changed from the days where people sit on a bus being taken from one fake tourist spot to another. . . When I travel I want to connect with the locals and want to see what life is like, while at the same time still getting those "must see sights" in. As a guide/ friend/ host. . . I am learning to find this balance and I also know that each visitor is unique. So, please feel free to tell me what you like and what you don't like. I can do bigger groups, but always prefer smaller, more intimate groups where I can build relationships and make the experience more personal. After a tour with me, hopefully you will agree that I am not your stereotypical tourist guide!!! As registered Private Guide for the Western Cape, South Africa I was the vice chair person for the Cape Tourist Guides Association. I have been doing private tours in the Cape since 2008. Before becoming a tourist guide I studied Missions with Operation Mobilization and worked with orphans in Russian (Siberia) for many years. Initially I studied electronics and computers and ran my own business in this field, but soon realized I need to be working with people. I am licensed to guide in English, Russian and Afrikaans for all of the Western Cape and the town of Port Elizabeth. I have a professional driver permit and am allowed to drive if the tour has 10 or less people.

Dedicate a full day to the Cape Town City tour, and Table Mountain! You will find it to be one of the most amazing days of your time spent in South Africa. The history is very vast, starting with the settlement in 1652. Your guided tour will include plenty of historical facts and stories. Yet that is just the tip of the iceberg! You will also get to explore some of the various elements of this history during your tour. Imagine knowing that right where you are standing is where something amazing occurred that change history! This is the type of learning that is hands-on and that you just can't get by watching a documentary or reading a book. There will be plenty of walking on this tour so make sure you wear comfortable shoes and clothing that can accommodate the changing temperatures throughout the day. It is important to note that exploring Table Mountain with this City tour will depend on the weather.
We will start at the Castle of Good Hope, the oldest European building in South Africa. From there we will walk to the District Six museum. All depending on how much you enjoy various parts of history, we will either walk further through the city centre or drive to a different sights in the city. Most of the time I like to take my guests to the Noon Gun before heading to lunch. As for lunch. . . I would love to do a curated lunch at a little Greek Restaurant, sitting outside under the trees. One of my friends is a waitress and she will join us for the meal. She will take us through the menu and help us order. This is not just to have a meal, but another opportunity for you to meet one of the locals in a natural, easy and comfortable environment. The itinerary can be customised based on your interests. . . In fact, every tour ends up being different as I adjust it to suite your interests.
Tell your guide which places matter to you, skip what doesn't, and tailor the experience for your group's needs. Not finding what you want? Message your guide to build something unique.
Depending on the group size we will use either the sedan or mini bus. All our vehicles are modern, fresh and air-conditioned.
