I was born in Cape Town, the city that offers adventures without leaving the city. The first city in South Africa and dates back to 1652 when the first permanent European settlers arrived on our shores. They decided that Cape Town offered an excellent fresh water and fresh food replenishing post. Now Cape Town has all of that to offer and so much more, the place where two oceans meet each other daily and offer breathtaking views of the mountain and the sea right on our doorstep. I am a cultural and archeological guide as well as an adventure guide. I have a passion to share the wonders of my city with others. I am able to adapt my tours to meet your fitness level and will try to ensure that your experience is a memorable one. For the adventurous at heart, I climbed a snow covered Jebel Toubkal in Morocco reaching a height of 4 126 meters in April 2017 and my tours include other mountains like the famous Drakensberg Mountains. I am a father to two adult children and the spirit of adventure has always been our family characteristic with many a family trip taking us into the great outdoors. My children are now world travelers climbing mountains in the Far East and swimming with dolphins in the Caribbean Islands. A professionally guided tour done at your pace and promises to be exhilarating. There is no admission ticket necessary to walk up Constantia Corner. This is a pleasant and shaded hike with amazing views overlooking Orange Kloof, Hout Bay, Constantiaberg, the Cape Flats and Muizenberg. Along the way you will come across the famous "Camel Rock" and picnic along one of the oldest dams in South Africa. Should you have members (old and young) in your group who are not as adventurous, and would prefer a gentle walk to the oldest dam, my wife can accompany them to the dam to meet up with us. McClear's Beacon is also accessible although this is a longer walk and you will need to have a full day available to achieve this. From here, you can descend the mountain via cable car (weather permitting). If you would like to discuss alternative routes, please do not hesitate to chat with me.
A good starting time for this hike is 07:00 (summer). This hike starts at Constantia Nek and you can either follow the jeep track to the first cul-de-sac or, if you feeling more energetic, take the steps (short cut) to where they meet the jeep track. From here we navigate our way past Eagle's Nest skirting the next buttress where you have a view of Silvermine and Muizenberg. We then make our way to Bel Ombre, and seeing the impressive Camel Rock formation. On our way to De Villier's Dam, we follow the path around Klaasen's Buttress and stop for something to eat at the dam while taking in the beauty and tranquility around us. After our break we make our way back to Constantia Nek via the Jeep Track. We will end at about 15:00 depending on the pace of the slowest hiker.
