Hello! I am Silvana, a passionate tour guide at your service. Welcome to Romania! Let my young demeanor not fool you - I am a BA in Art History with a master's degree in Museum Studies and a keen interest in social history, responsible tourism, and lifelong learning (among other things). FYI: Most museums in Bucharest are closed on Mondays & public holidays and some (like the Palace of Parliament and the Ceausescu Mansion) have their own guides for interior visits.

Is this your first time in Bucharest? Then this is the ideal tour for you! Bucharest might seem messy and chaotic but it also has a lot of surprising touches that you need to know to fully understand it. That's where I come in - a professional local guide with a background in art history and deeply in love with this architectural hodgepodge. I'll be there to provide a thoroughly researched historical & social context and answer (hopefully) all your questions. Like "how come there is a natural delta inside the city?!" or "why are there so many churches yet no old mosques in Bucharest?". On this 'best of Bucharest' tour, you will get a nice view of the capital city of Romania, with its intricate past and vibrant present. There will be plenty of time and suggestions for you to savor the city's atmosphere and get a taste of the local culture. I'll compliment that with sometimes juicy other times gruesome stories of how all this came to be.
Silvana provided our group of six with an outstanding tour, we were all first timers to Bucharest. She took into account our activity level and interest. We saw as much as possible, enjoyed the tram, stopped for a quick lunch and learned so much. Overall she is an interesting, knowledgable and personable tour guide and I would love to tour with her again.
I really enjoyed the tour "Landmarks of Bucharest" with Silvana! Silvana was an excellent guide,very kind,was speaking English fluently and clearly and she gave me all the necessary information not only for the sights and monuments we visited,but also for the history and everyday life of Bucharest and Romania! I was really feeling as if i was walking around the city with a friend! We also had an amazing traditional Romanian dinner in a very beautiful restaurant! A tour highly recommended!
Silvana was so nice, funny, easy going and knew a lot about Bucharest and wentthe extra mile to learn about things that were special to us, she did her homework! Beautiful city, excellent guide! Excellent tour. Silvana was very professional (on time, the trip was as described, and her subject knowledge was thorough and quite interesting). Importantly, she found ways to adapt her tour to our specific interests, whether it was sites to explore further, or restaurants to try. Finally, she was fun to have as a guide, not just someone who has a script to follow, but someone you enjoy having with you as you explore a new city.
What a spectacular tour! Silvana is a wonderful host-knowledgeable about all things Bucharest and Romania and filled our tour with unique details and tidbits that one could never get from another source. Bravo!!!
We will visit all the relevant sights such as: * The House of the People - nowadays Palace of Parliament - interior visit if possible * The Old Town where Bucharest first grew as a metropolis - relaxing stroll with Kodak moments, shopping, and visits to historical inns and churches * The University Square with its delightful architectural mix which I will explain in detail * The 1989 Revolution Square * The former Royal Palace, nowadays National Museum of Art - optional interior visit (closed on Mondays and Tuesdays) * The gorgeous Romanian Athenaeum (1888) - interior visit if possible (closed during concerts and rehearsals) * The open-air Village Museum with genuine popular architecture from all around the country - interior visit and opportunity to indulge in souvenir shopping.
