Sakurajima Half-Day Discovery Tour

Hello! I’m Meiko, a nationally licensed tour guide based in Kagoshima. I was born and raised here, surrounded by beautiful nature and warm, welcoming people. After living in Tokyo and spending 12 years working as a guide in Kyoto, I’m now back in my hometown and really happy to share it with you. I also lived in the United States while raising my newborn baby, and during that time I was helped by many kind local people. That experience stayed with me, and now I try to guide my guests the same way, like welcoming friends from abroad. When we walk together, I like to share the stories behind what you see, so places feel more meaningful, not just something to look at. I also enjoy talking about what I learned from my family, my great-grandparents, grandparents, and parents—who lived through Kagoshima’s history. Kagoshima has so much to offer, from its powerful volcanic landscape to its samurai past and everyday local life. I hope you can feel not only the sights, but also the spirit of this place.
