I have been lived, traveled, and worked in several countries. I also graduated from the graduate university in South Korea. After I came back to my hometown, I decided to be an ambassador or a “bridge” between people by introducing my hometown Kagoshima. Kagoshima is full of history, unique culture, cuisines, and nature. In Kagoshima, there are two World Natural Heritage Sites (Yakshima Island, Amami – Okinawa) and one World Cultural Heritage Site. Sengan-en area is recognized as World Cultural Heritage Site, Sites of Japan’s Meiji Industrial Revolution: Iron and Steel, Shipbuilding and Coal Mining in 2015. Kagoshima is one of the 8 prefectures and 23 components. Kagoshima is the birth place of modernization in Japan and it has different face of industrialization compared to other places. Sengan-en is the Japanese garden which was organized and inherited by Shimazu family for over 500 years. You will enjoy to see componence of modernization of Japan and traditional samurai garden and residence.

Yumi (our guide) is one of the best guides that we have had in our 39 tours with tours by locals. If you want a guide that is very proud and extremely knowledgeable of her city, Yumi should be your choice. We started as client and guide but became friends very quickly. Our walking tour of SENGAN-EN (world heritage site) was fascinating and very educational thanks to Yumi. I highly recommend Yumi as your guide. Yumi rates herself as conversational in english but she is absolutely fluent in english.
