Hello! I'm Mikiko! You can call me Miki! I was born and bred in Kagoshima. Now l'm living with my husband, two sons, and one dog. I have worked as an interpreter and a port agent for cruise ships for about 7 years. Fortunately I had opportunities to work in from very formal international conferences to music and sports events as an interpreter. As a port agent, I often take crew members and passengers to hospitals for medical emergency, so I've learned basic medical English and got a certificate. Still I'm learning such terms for the next level. For local companies, I join business meetings as an interpreter and translate documents for them. In addition, I have worked as a lecturer at an English academy for about five years. As a licensed international guide, I've guided FIT and big group for tours about 8 years now. I took them various sightseeing spots in Kagoshima. Sometimes for people who want to experience something very local or Japan, I offered such opportunities using various channels I have. Licensed guide (national qualification) Certified medical translator Training for tour conductors I am not a driver. I can accompany you in your vehicle or I can arrange for a separate car and driver.

Using a chartered taxi, we go to Ibusuki city first. That is about one hour drive to south from Kagoshima city. At Natural Sand Bath, you are literally buried in a sand and enjoy hot steam bath while lying on the sand. It must be an unforgettable experience. Before going to the next destination, you have lunch at a local noodle restaurant. The broth of the noodle uses very famous and traditional delicacy of dried bonito. You can enjoy Umami taste with it. Then next destination is Chiran Samurai Residences and gardens in Chiran town, one hour drive from Ibusuki city. Those gardens are nearly 270 years old and open to public now. You can imagine how then samurais lived there. At the end of the tour, we back to anywhere you want in Kagoshima city.

Miki is a wonderful guide. Her English is impeccable and easy to understand. She's friendly and knowledgeable and happy to accommodate our every need. We had a memorable time at Ibusuki Sand Baths and then to Chiran Samurai Village. On the way we made a number of stops for photos of various produce growing in the paddocks and the beautiful backdrop of the countryside and volcanos. She took us to a huge shopping centre where we needed to buy a few things including delicious Sushi platters which we took back to our cruise ship to enjoy. I can highly recommend Miki to guide you around Kagoshima and would not hesitate to use her services again.
It was a wonderful day! It was personal, funny, informative and with surprises. Aside from the sand baths and the samurai houses we were treated to green tea stop at a local farm and had great conversation with the owner and his wife. We also had a wonderful surprise for lunch at a beautiful restaurant with great local produce. A great day!
Mikiko earns 5 stars plus! And if lucky enough to have our same driver he also earns 5 stars plus! She speaks excellent English. She is on time and ready to go. She is quickly responsive by email. She is sweet, sift-spoken, and very polite. And most importantly, she knows her stuff! She was so prepared, we ran a few minutes ahead, which gave us tome for green tea soft serve ice cream made in-store with locally grown green tea & dusted with green tea. We would absolutely use Mikiko, and her driver again!
We had just a fantastic day with Mikiko and couldn't ask for a better guide: She met us at the port and had transportation ready for us to go to the sand baths in Ibusuki city. Great experience and she was extremely helpful in making this so private. She took us to Shrines and gardens and the kamikaze pilot museum. For lunch she took us to a local place and we had Noodles. The day was full and she made sure we got back to our ship on time I highly recommend her as a guide. Very personable.
