Hello everyone and welcome to Palermo! My name is Mauro, I was born and raised in Palermo, and I truly love sharing the beauty, history, atmosphere, and soul of my city with travelers from all over the world. I am passionate about art, theatre, architecture, history, and everyday local life. I want you to truly experience Palermo, not simply visit it. I have been an official licensed Tour Guide in Sicily since 2014 and an official Trip Leader since 2010. I hold a degree in Foreign Languages and Literature from the University of Palermo and a Master’s degree from the University of Udine. What is amazing about Western Sicily is that just 1 hour driving from Palermo you feel in a different world. Western Sicily means open landscapes, amazing colors, vineyards and history. I love this a part of the island because when I am there I always feel free and relaxed. Our first stop will be the archaeological park in Segesta, one of the cities of the Elymians, the original inhabitants of this area. We will visit the doric temple from the 5. b. C. and the theater, surrounded by a colorful landscape: there you will take amazing photos: so, be ready to change your Facebook profile picture! Erice is a cozy town with a medieval shape on the top of the Mount San Giuliano (751m, 2100 ft). When I was a child my family brought me here to buy almond pastries! A walk trough its small street is a must. We will visit also the mother church and the area of the castle, from where we will have a breathtaking landscape. We will also have a lunch break in the town, before driving back to Palermo.
This was our 2nd tour with Mauro. Once again, he exceeded our expectations. Our group of 3 had some physical limitations that he went out of his way to accommodate. He knowledge of the history and culture kept us on the edge of our seats and on our toes. His tour was not cookie cutter. It was customized for us and was greatly appreciated. We all highly recommend this tour and Mauro in particular.
A great day out of Palermo with Mauro who also organised a driver so we could relax. The temple at Segesta is beautiful and the hilltop town of Erice was amazing. Mauro's knowledge and passion for history and culture was very evident and we enjoyed listening to him while experiencing the Sicilian landscape, architecture and culture. Mauro tailored the pace and itinerary to ensure our comfort and enjoyment. He also recommended an excellent Erice restaurant for lunch. Highly recommended day trip and guide!
We spent 2 full days with Mauro, with the first being a full-day tour of Palermo and visiting Segesta and Erice on our 2nd day. Mauro amazed us with his knowledge of history and his ability to present it to us in a very interesting story-telling way! He did an excellent job adjusting the tour to our interests as we went along. Including a visit to Palazzio Butera in Palermo was a highlight of our first day, and something we haven't heard about before. His recommendations for lunch and dinner were great!
