Dear Guest, My name is Valentina. I am a licensed tour guide, art historian, travel designer and PhD researcher in Public Archaeology, based in Palermo. I have worked as a professional licensed guide in Sicily, Rome and Vatican City since 2009, creating private historical, artistic and archaeological experiences for international travellers. I hold both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Art History from Sapienza University of Rome, specializing in museums, heritage interpretation and the promotion of local cultural resources. I am currently completing a PhD at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid. My research focuses on Sicily’s megalithic heritage, archaeological landscape management and sustainable cultural tourism. My international academic and professional experience includes Italy, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain, Portugal, Malta and Mexico. From 2022 to 2025, I taught Italian and Art History at the Italian Cultural Institute in Mexico City. After several years of living and working abroad, I returned to Palermo with my family in 2026. As the mother of a young daughter, I understand the needs of families travelling with children and can adapt the itinerary, pace and storytelling to different ages and interests. I offer private and customized tours in English, Spanish and Italian for couples, families and groups. My experiences combine art, archaeology, traditions and local stories, helping guests discover Sicily beyond its most famous monuments. I also provide personalized itinerary consultations. Sicily is much larger and more diverse than many visitors expect, so I can help you choose the most meaningful destinations, plan realistic travel times and discover lesser-known cultural and archaeological sites. One of my specialities is the “Find Your Roots” experience for travellers of Sicilian ancestry. Depending on the available historical information, I can help identify ancestral towns and addresses, arrange visits to municipal archives and cemeteries and assist guests who hope to reconnect with relatives still living in Sicily. Please note that I am not a driver. I can accompany you in your own vehicle or help arrange a professional car service. I can also recommend a trusted local driver with whom I regularly collaborate for private transfers and customized day trips throughout Sicily. I look forward to welcoming you and creating a meaningful journey through Sicily’s art, archaeology, landscapes and living traditions. Palermo hides many of its most extraordinary treasures behind discreet façades. To fully understand what its noble palaces suggest from the outside, one must step inside them. This half-day experience offers exclusive access to private aristocratic residences, revealing the history, architecture, and stories of the families who shaped the city. You will discover Palermo from an intimate and unconventional perspective, walking through spaces that are still lived in today and hearing the stories that bring centuries of Sicilian nobility to life. My personal interest in Palermo’s historic palaces began in 2013 and was one of the main reasons that led me to move here. This tour is the result of that passion and is designed for travelers who wish to go beyond the surface and explore the city’s hidden heritage.
The tour begins with a meeting at your hotel, from where we will move into the historic center of Palermo. Our first visit is to Palazzo Conte Federico, one of the oldest buildings in the city. You will be welcomed by the owners themselves, and I will guide you through the palace, sharing insights into its layered history and remarkable architectural features. Continuing along the ancient Cassaro, today known as Via Vittorio Emanuele, we will visit Palazzo Drago Airoldi di Santa Colomba. Thanks to its strategic position and architectural development, it is considered one of the most significant noble residences along Palermo’s oldest street. The visit offers a deeper understanding of the evolution of Sicilian aristocratic life. The tour concludes near the Norman Cathedral of Palermo, an iconic monument that reflects the city’s rich multicultural past and provides a fitting end to this journey through Palermo’s noble heritage.
