Overview of your Naples tour
Climbing one of the hills of my city, you will have the opportunity to have a sight over the extent of the city, of the metropolitan area and the bay of Naples, whose profile is mount Vesuvius, one of the Italian still active volcanoes. On the very top of the hill, an ancient monastery rises above, nevertheless not well known, yet. This is the reason why I would like to guide you to the discovery of this peaceful site! To reach the hill where the monastery is, old time, there were various staircases counting hundreds of steps: not very easy to reach! But don't worry, we will discover the beautiful staircase Pedamentina San Martino just climbing it down! The old monastery (Charterhouse) was built at the beginning of the XIVth century, by willing of the Anjou kings. Descending the staircase Pedamentina, we will reach the downtown in one of the working-class quarters of the city, Pignasecca, where you can go native among local people, local small grocery shops and colorful markets.
