Our day trip to Pompeii was truly one of the highlights of our time in Italy, and that is entirely thanks to our wonderful guide, Barbara. Barbara is a lifelong Naples resident with an impressive academic background in archaeology. What makes her so exceptional is that her connection to Pompeii goes far beyond professional training—she has been visiting the site since childhood. That deep familiarity and passion shine through in every story and every detail she shares. From the moment we arrived at Naples Centrale, where Barbara and our driver met us after our high-speed train ride from Rome Termini, everything was seamless. We were comfortably driven to Pompeii, guided through the ruins with incredible insight, and then returned to Naples for our train back to Rome. What made the experience so special was Barbara’s ability to bring Pompeii to life. She doesn’t simply point out ruins—she unveils the city in a way that makes you understand the people who lived there, their daily lives, and the tragedy that preserved it for us to see today. Pompeii is an extraordinary place, but having someone you trust to reveal its meaning and history makes all the difference. Barbara is also a beautiful person inside and out—warm, engaging, and clearly passionate about sharing the story of Pompeii. She even recommended a wonderful restaurant in Naples, just a short walk from the train station, which was perfect before heading back toward Rome. If you are planning a visit to Pompeii, I cannot emphasize this enough: having the right guide matters tremendously. We feel incredibly fortunate that the person who unveiled Pompeii for us was Barbara. Highly recommended—this was a truly five-star experience.

We had a wonderful tour of Pompeii with Barbara. She planned a great itinerary for us at the site. We got to see various neighborhoods & how people lived & worked in Pompeii. She also gave us lots of information on the history, culture & art of the time. She was a great advocate for our small group with the swarms of people at the site . She made sure we got to see everything.
