Private Tour in Pompeii and the Amalfi Coast. Wonderful Italian Experience

Giuseppe made our day wonderful! If you don’t read any further, know that if you want someone knowledgeable, safe, kind, funny, and accommodating, he is absolutely the guide to choose. I wish he could accompany us on all our tours this trip. He took all my requests in, and was able to pivot immediately when we ran into an unexpected issue. He met us at our cruise port and immediately moved us away from the guides trying to sell last minute tours and towards his very nice, new, comfortable Mercedes van. His driving throughout the entire day was very safe and attentive, even with very narrow roads and precarious drivers. Moving us away from crowds would become a theme of the day - he advised we go to the Amalfi coast first, then Pompeii because it was one of the days where entry to Pompeii was free. He said it would be less crowded in the Amalfi villages in the morning and then also less crowded at Pompeii in the afternoon - that all sounded great to us so off we went. He gave us so much information about the area from historical aspects to commerce and sociology and economics. He was able to answer any question we had and while he was facing forward driving, my father-in-law who is hard of hearing, had no trouble hearing Giuseppe from the back of the van. As we made our way through Amalfi villages, he told us about each one. Our first stop was a bit spontaneous when he told us about a village we were driving through that makes fior di latte (type of mozzarella), and asked - do you want to stop and sample it? Yes! I We were presented with a plate of meats, salami, cheeses, and some crackers/biscuits. That stop was very special. Next stop was a scenic lookout where we took pictures with the Amalfi Coast. Our first major stop was in Amalfi. I told Giuseppe before the tour that I was interested in Amalfi paper so he made sure we had plenty of time to shop and look around. I was able to make the purchases I wanted and we tried lemon gelato! Our next stop was lunch in Pontone, Giuseppe made us a reservation and we had an outside shaded table with a terrific view. We enjoyed pasta, pizza, and wine. Next stop was Ravello, a smaller and very charming village. After that we planned to go to Pompeii - we arrived and he dropped us right at the gate and we were denied entry - very confused we looked to Giuseppe and he found out the site had reached its 20,000 visitor limit for the day! In absolutely NO time, he pivoted and led us back to the van and started driving to Herculaneum and told us about the differences and similarities between Pompeii and Herculaneum. He was apologizing profusely but it was totally out of his control, so we had no concern. Herculaneum was a terrific stop - honestly it probably suited our group best because it was more shaded and smaller. He gave an extensive tour with so much detail. It was really special and a major highlight of our trip. He delivered us back to our port with plenty of time to spare.

Giuseppe helped design a wonderful day in Pompeii and the Amalfi Coast. He was prompt professional and extremely knowledgeable about Pompeii and the surrounding area. Absolutely a great day touring this beautiful and ancient area. He also recommended a fantastic and reasonably priced family restaurant in Pontone. Highly recommend Giuseppe as a tour guide.

Guiseppe is the BEST!!!!!!!! We actually did two tours with him during our stay in Italy - Pompeii and Amalfi + Rome. Our first trip with him was this one, and we were so thankful to have such a knowledgeable and wonderful guide. We learned so much and enjoyed it! My husband and I had been to Pompeii before, but we had no idea how much we missed because we didn't have a guide years ago. It is so worth it! Giuseppe was very conscious of the heat while there, and did a fantastic job of finding shady places to share facts with us :). If he suggests the Ravello, go for it! Beautiful gardens, but head there first. Then, don't miss the amazing restaurant in Pontone that he suggests. WOWOW!!!!! It's everything you expect the Italian coast to be - gorgeous + delicious food! Our daughter had been studying in Rome for school, and she wanted to train from Rome to Naples, Pompeii, and the Amalfi coast, but we felt having a driver would be best, and it was! We learned as we drove, and the sights were beautiful! And, we fit so much into one day! Yay for Giuseppe!!! Ciao! Grazie!!

We spent the day with Giuseppe visiting Pompeii and the Amalfi Coast, and it was one of the highlights of our trip to Italy. Giuseppe was friendly, knowledgeable, and easy to spend the day with. At Pompeii, he did an excellent job explaining what we were seeing and helping us understand how people actually lived there. He answered all of our questions and kept the tour interesting without overwhelming us with information. The Amalfi Coast portion of the day was equally outstanding. Giuseppe knew exactly where to stop for the most spectacular views and shared details about the region that we never would have discovered independently. One of the highlights of the day was lunch at a scenic, off-the-beaten-path restaurant that offered breathtaking views and an authentic local experience away from the crowds. What truly set Giuseppe apart was his ability to combine deep knowledge with a warm and personable approach. He made the day feel less like a tour and more like exploring Italy with a knowledgeable friend who genuinely wanted us to have the best possible experience. We have taken many private tours around the world, and Giuseppe ranks among the very best guides we have ever had. We would recommend him without hesitation and would gladly tour with him again.

Our visit to Pompeii with Guiseppe was the highlight of our cruise. The site was incredible. It allowed us to visualize how the Roman civilization lived. Guiseppe is a knowledge expert of the ruins. He knew the right time to go to various spots to avoid large crowds. We heard many other ‘english’ speaking guides that were extremely difficult to understand. Guiseppe’s english is excellent. He made it fun for our young kids too. His van was very clean and comfortable. He also had a cooler of bottle water for us which was much appreciated during the hot day. After Pompeii he drove us around the Amalfi coast. My wife and kids are prone to car sickness. He drove the windy roads with ease and slowed down at each turn so we could take pictures. He also took us to a fantastic local restaurant that had excellent pizza with very reasonable prices. Thank you for another amazing day!
