I have an intimate knowledge of Galway through family, personal involvement and a keen interest in history and culture. I am fluent in Irish and speak some French and Spanish. My motto for my tours is the same as the BBC's for broadcasting - 'to inform, to educate, to entertain. A day long excursion to Inismore, largest of the three Aran Islands in beautiful Galway Bay. Home to a rugged, romantic landscape, weathered by the sea, and native home to Liam O'Flaherty, novelist and political activist. Also home of the world famous Aran sweater.
Take a shuttle bus across the Irish speaking southern part of Connemara to the fishing port of Rossaveel. There, board the ferry to Kilronan, the principal town on Inismore. Take a bus to the stone age fort of Dun Aenghusa, visit the seal sanctuary, see old Celtic churches. Explore the Aran knitwear shops (Aran Island sweaters), see the homestead of the famous novelist, Liam O'Flaherty before returning to the mainland.
