I arrived in Galway City 25 years ago and it was love at first sight. What's not to love? Friendly people, vibrant streets, music, comedy, festivals, in other words, good craic. So I decided to make it home. Not only that, but I decided to show other people this wonderful part of the world. I started doing cycling tours and walking tours learning on the job pretty much. Nowadays I drive people around the West of Ireland, showing them the little hidden gems that this place has to offer. So if you fancy a good story, a pint of stout or a jar of whiskey, as well as beautiful views, give me a shout. Do you like Irish history? The Celts, the Vikings, the Anglo-Normans, the Spanish Armada, The Great Hunger? I'll tell you all about it. Do you like the wilderness of the West Of Ireland, the breathtaking views of the Cliffs of Moher, and the magnetic pull of Galway City? I'll surely take you there. Overview of your Galway tour
Connemara is a place of "savage beauty" as the great Oscar Wilde described. Located in the northwest corner of County Galway, it's an area of desolate aesthetics, incredible scenery and some interesting attractions, which combined make Connemara a beautiful location close to the hearts of Irish people and visitors alike. When I arrived here 25 years ago, I instantly fell in love. I know this place inside out, like my own side pockets. The rough landscape of the Maamturk Mountains, the imposing Twelve Bens, the scenic drives of Killary Fjord and the Sky Road of Clifden are only a glimmer of what this magnificent place offers. From the majestic Lough Corrib with its thousands of little islands, to the historic Kylemore Abbey known for love & heartbreak, plus Aughnanure Castle, home of the ferocious O'Flahertys, all of these places have a story to tell and it'll be my pleasure to tell it to you. Your Galway tour itinerary
This a typical itinerary, but it can be customized to meet your preferences: -After being picked up from a pre-arranged location in Galway City, we'll drive north towards Headford, stopping for 20 minutes at Ross Early Friary ruins for a quick visit. -Next, we'll go towards Cong Village for a 30-min visit to the Quite Man Cottage or/and Cong Abbey ruins. -Departing Cong, the drive takes us into Joyce Country, alongside the Lough Corrib shore (for approx. 45 min) to Leenane with an option to stop for a pint. -Afterwards, we'll drive along the Killary Fjord and stop for a visit to Killary Sheep Farm to see the sheepdogs in action for 40 mins. -The Highlight of the Day is next, our approximately 90 min visit to Kylemore Abbey (an option for a lunch break). -Next, we'll drive the Sky Road loop with an alternative option to Stop in Clifden for lunch instead. -We'll continue driving towards Oughterard, and visit Aughnanure Castle for 30 min. -At last, we'll return to Galway at your chosen destination.
