Let me look after you. I promise you a MEMORABLE TOUR from Galway, Mayo and Sigo. First of all thank you for checking my profile! I would love to share my passion for Ireland with you if you decide to take one of my tours. I have been guiding for more than ten years and due to my curiosity, I have an extensive, intense, and profound knowledge of Ireland. I use the philosophy of Mahatma Gandhi: "Live like you are going to die tomorrow and learn like you are going to live forever". That's how I constantly keep my tours to a 'gold' standard. I do not regard tourist guiding as work, it's just travelling around my wonderful country with friends, telling stories, singing songs and having fun. I'm not just a tourist guide, I'm an entertainer, a historian and an author. Your day will 'fly by' as you hear stories of Stone Age farmers, St Patrick, The Children of Lir, Rebellion against the British, the Great Famine, the Wild Atlantic Way and why we drive on the 'correct' side of the road. Maybe you might also want to hear about Brexit! Whether it's history, legends or politics I can bring them all alive for you. Of course the most magical thing about Ireland is the magnificent scenery. The landscapes and seascapes are constantly changing on tour and there will be lots of photo-stops along the way. If you want great photos, I will show you where the best shots can be taken. While I have a number of tour options listed, they are not 'set in stone' If you have an item or area of special interest I can plan that for you to ensure that the tour SUITS YOUR NEEDS. Our national poet W. B. Yeats once said, 'Education is not the filling of a bucket, it's the lighting of a fire'. I hope that I can 'light a fire' for Ireland in your hearts that will make you want to return again and again. Thank you for reading all of this. Hopefully it was not too long-winded and I will get to meet you when you come on tour with me. I love this part of Ireland as it has some of the most spectacular views in the country. My heart always bursts with pride as I hear the reaction of clients to the majesty and magnificence of the ever changing landscape. On route there are lots of stories to be told, because we Irish love to tell a good story. There will not be a dull moment on tour! The area has unique scenery with mountains, lakes and valleys created by the glaciers during the Ice-Age. We will also be travelling along the Wild Atlantic Way for a time and you will see the impact of the ocean on the coastline. The tour is along single carriageway roads with lots of opportunity for photos on the way. We can visit a typical Irish pub for pint or an Irish Coffee if you wish (not for me, I'm driving!). Highlights of the tour include the village of Cong, Kylemore Abbey, Doolough Valley and the lovely town of Westport. You will be captivated by the variety on this tour.
There is so much to see and do on this tour, it's impossible to include everything in the itinerary, but, here are some of the highlights: - Kylemore Abbey - One of my favourite visitor sites in Ireland. - Leenaun - Majestic mountains flank both sides of Ireland's only fjord. - Doolough Valley - This inviting valley with its alluring lakes shrouds sickening stories of starvation, disease and eviction suffered by the people of Ireland during the Great Famine of the 1840's. - Westport - A charming town that has won Ireland's 'Tidiest Town' on many occasions. - Cong - Location of Quiet Man movie and Ashford Castle. - Mountains, lakes and valleys - As the mountains are a commonage for local farmers their sheep and lambs can often be encountered on the road. As always, I can amend this tour to suit you.
