Tour Guide for Galway and the West of Ireland. Published writer & poet, Artist, Irish speaker, Storyteller. I am an experienced, qualified Fáilte Ireland - Irish Tourist Board, Regional Tour Guide. I also served on the Committee of Galway Tour Guides Association as its Social Media Officer. In April, 2021, during the Covid lockdown I gave the online tour of Galway City for Flockeo, the French eco-tourism company offering online city tours globally. This tour is available on YouTube. In May, 2022, I offered two successful FREE Walking Tours of Galway City to groups of Ukrainian refugees, to orientate them to their new surrounds. I am published in Irish and English for poetry and stories, and I'm an award-winning playwright, published cartoonist and visual artist. I'm a native of Salthill (The Village), just west of Galway. I have an intimate knowledge of Galway through family, personal involvement and a keen interest in history and culture. I am fluent in Irish and speak some French and Spanish. My motto for my tours is the same as the BBC's for broadcasting - 'to inform, to educate, to entertain. Overview of your Galway tour

The Burren is a 'remarkable place where geology, ecology, archaeology, agriculture, history, food and traditional music are all deeply rooted in the landscape and culture of the region'. The natural phenomenon that are the Cliffs of Moher is the second most visited tourist attraction in Ireland. 5 km of naturally formed cliffs, 700 metres high, with views of the Aran Islands to the north and Kerry to the south. I am native of Salthill (The Village), just west of Galway and have intimate knowledge of Galway through family, personal involvement and a keen interest in history and culture. My motto for my tours is the same as the BBC's for broadcasting - 'to inform, to educate, to entertain. '

This is an excellent tour for those on cruise ships. For our group of eight, the cost was about half what it would’ve been if we had done the cruise line’s offered short excursion with a similar itinerary. Our guide Jim was very considerate and responsive to our interests. We were able to customize things accordingly. We all had a great time, and are very appreciative of him, and of Tours by Locals for offering this marvelous experience. I might add that we had a child (seven year-old girl) with us, and the Cliffs of Moher was a great tour for her.

We had the best time on our tour of the Cliffs of Moher and The Burren. Our guide, Jim, was very knowledgeable of the area and shared stories that were informative and entertaining. We were also lucky enough to have a comfortable van and driver for the day. Our driver, Edel, helped make the trip complete. Between the beautiful scenery, the history of the area, the general knowledge of Ireland and the stop for lunch, I don't think we could have asked for more. Thanks for a great day.

Jim provided a very enjoyable touring experience. He was extremely knowledgeable about the local culture, history, and geology. He was very considerate taking into account the group's dietary restrictions when choosing a location for lunch.
